I Think my computer is infected

My Norton security says they have quarantined Trojan:Poweliks!   This has happened several times a day for the past couple of days. I poked around a bit and see about 10 dllhost. I have uninstalled and reinstalled my Norton virus software protection. Everything is saying it is up to date and all is happy, happy, happy....But something is happening....plz help.

I keep getting a Performance report from Norton that COM Surrogate is using a lot of space. I am not very tech savvy, and I need help. Also, PC is slow and I can't download anything.  I have a shop on Etsy and was unable to download a shipping label to mail an item purchased from my store. The message was "Your security does not allow downloads: or something like that. Please help me.

Symantec has some info on it.

Not suggesting you try to remove it yourself. Just for info purposes.

http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2014-080408-...

Appears to be nasty.

"Protection so good, it's guaranteed.

We’re so confident in our antivirus and malware protection, we guarantee it. We’ll help keep you virus free, or your money back. That’s assurance you can’t get from free software.

Note also: "Virus removal service by a Norton expert and the guarantee are limited to computers (PCs and Macs) only. You may receive a full refund on the actual price paid for the Norton subscription, or if a bundle, the total price of the bundled price paid (including any discounts or refunds received and less any shipping, handling and applicable taxes, except in certain states and countries where shipping, handling and taxes are refundable) and only for the current paid subscription service period for that product or product bundle. Norton Security must be installed and activated on your computer prior to the time it is infected by a virus. Money back guarantee does not apply to any damages incurred as a result of viruses."

 "

How to use the Norton Virus Protection Promise if you think you are infected

  • If running a Full System Scan from your Norton product does not solve the problem, you can use Norton Power Eraser to quickly detect and solve most threats. For more information, read I think I am infected.

If that does not work, or you need additional assistance, you can contact Norton Support for assistance to remove the threat."

Will using first using a Non-Symantec employee void Symantec"s guarantee for NS? A lot of guarantees are like that - claiming the first attempt at repair really botched things up.

Re: I Think my computer is infected

Interesting quandary... I guess we'll need some guidance from powers on high.
Until I hear some positive feedback re VPP
I'll point to Quads and you point to who you want...
But, you make a valid point.  I'll have to update my macro
If I get in a bind...I want my system cleaned ~ not a refund.
Comodo offers free remote malware removal with up to $500 towards having your system cleaned if Comodo fails to clean.
If I ran Comodo I would start with Comodo

EDIT:  Updated Macro
