The new update for ID Safe has problems. Some sites will not auto fill and others will load the user name and not the password.
I have the same problem with the new ID Safe version in Firefox.
I have the same problems with the new update of ID Save!
For me the new version is disappointing and there is no autofill anymore.
I went back to the older versions and no problems.
I deleted the new 184.108.40.2068 and installed 220.127.116.11 and working great.
I also went back to the 18.104.22.168 Version and it is working optimally!
In the 22.214.171.1248 , there were to many bugs and inconsistences, it has not proved satisfacactoryly.
I never moved to new update (mainly due to unclear permissions issue) but now because everyone that has says it's worse and has switched back. I wish Mozilla would coordinate better with Norton, they keep mini-updates popping out and changing the rules and these things are not necessarily quickly fixable across the board.
Every time Mozilla comes out with a mini update, then Norton has to make changes in coding which sometimes takes some time to figure out what needs to be changed. Once they figure out what the change is, then they have to test it out with the rest if with the Norton product to make sure it's not going to break something else. The testing takes some time.
All of this takes time since there are so many combinations of hardware. There always will be some combinations which will be left out of the testing. That's when the issues show up.
I have at least some of the same symptoms, but it isn't clear to me what release of Firefox the other reporters have. As far as the specific issues I am having, the auto-fill problem involves me being prompted with login credentials, even though I only have 1 login for the web page in question. Previously, the only time I would get prompted was when I had 2 or more logins for a website. I also have some sites where the password does not get plugged in.
I have Firefox 54.0.1 because Firefox 55 sounded like it was asking fro trouble,
I have Norton Security Toolbar 2017.11.0.1
Norton Identity Safe 126.96.36.1998
I can't say for certain if the login issues started before or after the 188.8.131.528 version of Identity Safe.
Any word on when we might get a fix on the current problems with NIS V.3 ?
I'm using Windows 10 64-bit Anniversary Update, Firefox 55.0.3, Norton Security 184.108.40.206, NIS 220.127.116.11
The new version Id Safe extension 18.104.22.1688 does not have an "auto fill" option like the previous version so that is why you are getting the prompt.
I have FF 55.0.3 and use Id safe extension 22.214.171.124 with "auto fill" ON and it only prompts for multiple logins.
Thanks for this information. I now have the following questions:
Getting back to 126.96.36.199 on Firefox. Search on Firefox for add-ons. On this page you find the new 3.0. scroll down to the bottom of the page where you will see version information. Open this and at the bottom click on see complete version history. 3.0 and 2.1will be listed to download 188.8.131.52. It is not easy to find on Firefox so here is the link. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/norton-identity-safe/vers... Just a few points. Uninstall ID safe 3.0 and refresh Firefox before downloading 184.108.40.206. 3.0 caused a lot of problems for me and I found this solved the problems. I am using Firefox 55.0.3. 32bit, with Norton Security 220.127.116.11. Not sure if the new updated Norton Security caused some issues I had. It still has a problem when you click on the Norton Community Link to logon you get a strange error message. The 3.0 id safe will auto fill about 30% of the logons I have and if you click on the box when logging into your vault I got vault cloud page and autofill would not work at all. Norton reached out and someone would contact me and I never heard back, so I figured out how to correct the issues.
I have been caught by this problem too many times and wanted to pass it along. It seems to fit some of the others posting here.
Beware of web sites that mask your on screen ID or Password entries. Identity Safe is treating the masked fields as a user entry. When you see that familiar Save user data dialog box. You could be overwriting your prior fields with blank or masked data. Be absolutely sure you made a change and want to keep it, prior to agreeing to Save anything. This is also an easy way to have multiple entries for a single site.
ID field: ABC123 might be masked as A****3 the A****3 is what Identity Safe is attempting to save. Not ABC123.
Password Field: PpasswordD might be masked as ********** or [blank]. Identity safe wants to save ********** or [blank] not the actual password.
