ID Safe Auto-Fill in MS EDGE

I used ID Safe in Edge when it first came out and it worked fine.  Auto Fill for ALL log-ins worked great. As of a couple weeks ago, something changed.  It started NOT auto filling ANY site and some sites don't even offer the (user name) click on button to allow a manual log-in. The original "..." >settings went to a pop up that allowed one to select Auto-Fill on/off.  Now it goes to a Norton web page that has no setting for Auto Fill.

I tried deleting and reloading the extension with no change.

What happened?

That version 5 Extension has problems. Firefox has the same problems with v5 also.

There is the same problem with Chrome

Re: ID Safe Auto-Fill in MS EDGE

Actually I have been experiencing this issue with CHROME and IE for several months.  That's why I was so happy when it all worked great in EDGE until the change about three weeks ago.  I never had Auto Log-In working in EDGE but, at least the Auto Fill worked and, all I had to do was click Log-In.  Now, just like some sites on IE or CHROME, I must copy and paste the log-in data into the respective fields.

HEY NORTON; HOW ABOUT A RESPONSE!

Re: ID Safe Auto-Fill in MS EDGE

Me again.  I finally took the 60 minutes or so to work with a Norton chat rep and was able to convince him of what I found.  Here it is: M Soft released an update to their latest version of WIN 10 that has ruined the way the ID Safe Auto Fill extension works in EDGE. I verified this with a lap top I use rarely that had not yet had the WIN 10 update. All worked great before the update (I checked thoroughly) and all worked horribly after the update.

So; the Norton rep finally agreed and said he would be sure to send a full report to the "engineers" with all the data he collected. Hopefully this will result in a correction patch.

For those, like me, who have been having trouble with Auto Fill and Auto Log-In in Chrome and IE:

In the futile attempt at trying to correct EDGE, the tech deleted and reloaded the full Norton product on my PC. After this I noticed IE and Chrome worked a little better. Still not perfect but a little better. I have been sending the URL data and a description of the various issues with IE and C for several months (years) and little seems to change. That is why I was so happy with EDGE working so well. Guess I got spoiled. Silly me.

Does anyone else feel like I do; that Norton's ID Safe simply doesn't work as advertised and they can't, for whatever reason, fix it?

Re: ID Safe Auto-Fill in MS EDGE

As I posted previously Norton broke ID Safe extensions when they released version 3 and it is still broke with version 5.

I am running W10 1709 and in Firefox, ID Safe extension 2.1.0.24 works great but version 5 has problems.

So the new W10 version 1709 is not the problem. It is the new ID Safe extension.

Version 3 was released on Aug 11 and version 5 on Sept 25 and W10 1709 was released on OCT 17 so don't blame W10 for Norton's problems.

my log-in fields do not populate also!  Fix it Norton or lose paying customers

Re: ID Safe Auto-Fill in MS EDGE

I agree! Until recently ID safe worked great on IE 10 and pretty good on Chrome, but spotty on Edge. Now it is hit or miss with any of the browsers. I jump among the browsers until I find the one that is working best on any given day. Not what I expect from Norton

Re: ID Safe Auto-Fill in MS EDGE

Mr. PhoneMan,

Not trying to argue and, this may be unrelated as you say but, on my lap top, with the latest Norton updates, ID Safe worked great in EDGE (not C or IE, only EDGE).  I tested it on almost all log ins and it worked just like my PC before the MS update, i.e. GREAT.  So, I ran the MS update on my lap top and then I saw the same issues as on my PC after the MS update.  All of this, on the lap top anyway, has been within the last three days.  By the way, the MS update on my PC was done with the auto update setting on, so I was unaware (ignored the notices) of it until I started looking into the reason for the EDGE issue.

I'm not blaming MS here, I'm saying that Norton needs to accept the fact that their EDGE extension is no longer compatible with the newest MS update which, because it was also a security update, probably updated EDGE to.

Agreed, all my evidence is circumstantial but, that's why I started this blog.  I wanted to see if others are seeing the same thing.

ID Safe hasn't worked well in IE or Chrome for a long-long time and frankly I had just given up on them.  EDGE was my great new hope and now that hope has been dashed on the ID Safe rock pile to.  I guess life just isn't fair!

Re: ID Safe Auto-Fill in MS EDGE

All browsers are going to WebExtensions and the extensions are compatible on all Browsers that support WebExtensions.

Norton ID Safe WebExtension version 5.0.0.347 is used on Edge, Firefox and Chrome.

And they all have the same Login problems.

Older version of Norton ID Safe WebExtension 2.1.0.24 works great on Firefox but I don't know what older version was on Edge and Chrome when they were working. I suspect the same old version.
