Identity Safe and Firefox working well Together

I normally use Firefox with NoScript, add block plus and Norton toolbar with Identity safe. Running 32 bit Windows 10 anniversary edition, I have tried every work around (logging out nis, browser refreshes etc.) and have had an ongoing posts with NoScript support and was given suggestions that were tried. I always seeing the "Please wait" while logging into vault, the only thing that worked was turning NoScript off (unacceptable.) Through testing, browser refreshes, uninstalling and reinstalling browsers was this. First, I started off with Firefox 48.0.2, no results, then tried Firefox 49.0.b10. got the same result, updating Firefox 49 beta to 49.0. Through this testing the only combination of Firefox and all my add-ons working in harmony was using Firefox 50.oA2, I also had to stop Private browsing mode. I then tried the private browsing mode on versions 49 and 48 and the add-ons still will not work together.

For the ABP try disabling the EasyPrivacy filter. That worked for me. Although I do not use No Script so I'm not sure if that might still block the ID Safe.

Re: Identity Safe and Firefox working well Together

I'm having reasonable success doing what I want to do with the FF Add-on for Identity Safe (FF 48.0.2) but have noticed one issue that is a bit of a pain.  If I do not yet have my vault open, have multiple FF tabs open and in the active tab I encounter a logon request, the Identity Safe pops up with a request to open my vault.  If I do that and the vault opens, FF (or the add-on, don't know which) proceeds to position me on the right-most tab, not necessarily the one where I was in the process of performing the login.  If I return to the tab where I was logging in I am properly logged in.  Not sure if the add-on could take on the responsibility of returning me to the tab I was using.  I gather that the add-on needs its own tab to perform its open but when that tab closes something apparently loses track of what tab it originated from so you are sent back there instead of what happens when the last tab goes away.

Great point. This might be a good suggestion for the Product Suggestions board https://community.norton.com/forums/product-suggestions

Re: Identity Safe and Firefox working well Together

I've begun to have a new problem with Firefox 48.0.2 which I think may be related to the add-on but I'm not yet certain.  On some occasions (not all) when I click on a link on a vendor's page to go to another page (same window/tab) the display jumps to the middle of the page or possibly the bottom.  In at least some cases there is a Norton ID Safe "open the window icon" somewhere on the lower right of the screen which I am apparently supposed to be able to click on but which does nothing if I do.  This "auto-scroll" to the middle of the page is becoming a real nuisance.  If I close FF, reopen and try to recreate the same steps the link to the new page positions me at the top of the target page as it should.  I'm going to disable the add-on and run for a while to see if the problem occurs again; it did not show up until I installed the add-on.

Re: Identity Safe and Firefox working well Together

I have seen this in the past. What the ID Safe is doing is trying to autofill some field on that page. Some websites may have a box to enter an email address to subscribe to a newsletter near the bottom of the page.

I have been trying to duplicate this effect but have not been able to do so. Can you provide an example of a site where this happens?

EDIT

I just found a page that this happens on. What you can do to stop this happening is to turn off the Autofill logins option. Not the best solution, as it takes away one of the reasons to have ID Safe.

It does not happen with the old Toolbar version in IE. It seems they fixed it there but have reintroduced it in the new extension for FF. I'll pass this along.

Using FF49, when I turn on the Vault, scrolling in Facebook becomes very slow and clunky, I have tried it with the toolbar turned on or turned off with the same result

Re: Identity Safe and Firefox working well Together

Neil, I was seeing the same slowdown on Firefox 48.02, and see it on 49 and 50.0a2 developer edition. I believe it to be on Facebook's end, and see the slow down on all three builds with numerous refreshes on all. After reading your comment I tried it on chrome and see the same thing just not as bad, but not a lot better. (forced to have chrome because of non functioning vault for over a year.)

Re: Identity Safe and Firefox working well Together

I tried turning off the Autofill logins option but that has not resolved the problem for me; I still get the odd positioning on the web page plus it will even fill in some information (erroneously this morning when it filled in a field on a page for ordering a quantity of something with my user ID?).  Another annoyance, I opened my vault this morning before I started FF and then began looking at my emails.  One email had a link to a website that I chose to go to and when that page came up I immediately got a prompt from N360 to open my vault (again).  This beta is not a ready-for-prime-time player--does anyone know if they intend to release a Beta2?

Addendum: Apparently sometimes having Autofill turned off does work, but not all the time and not on all websites.  I don't know if this has anything to do with what I'm seeing happen now, but when I went from one open tab where I opened my vault to another tab the add-on asked me to open my vault yet again.  This would be funny if it weren't a giant annoyance...

Hello Paul T

Have you tried the Extension for FF? It does have partial usability.

Thanks.

Norton is aware of this login issue. There is no correspondence between the Norton Toolbar login to the online vault, which includes signing in from your Norton product,  and the new FF extension login to the same online vault. So if you log into one, you still have to log into the other if you want to use the vault.

I still get the odd positioning on the web page plus it will even fill in some information (erroneously this morning when it filled in a field on a page for ordering a quantity of something with my user ID?)

As I noted above, I was able to reproduce this issue, and have passed along example web sites to Norton to be able to test this.

Re: Identity Safe and Firefox working well Together

Hi Flopot,

If you look at the beginning of these posts, you will see that I started this about the pre release add-on of Norton Vault hoping that someone on the programming end could replicate what I was seeing with the extension. My local vault and mobile vault work great, I been waiting a long time for the compatibility issues with Firefox to be fixed. I hate being forced to use chrome or IE, or the copy/ paste site work around.
