Identity Safe exceeded the number of allowable attempts to sign in.

This is very frustrating. I'm having a similar problem. Identity Safe keeps prompting for my Norton Account login/password and displays the following:

“Please enter a valid password.”

I go to the ‘Sign in to Norton Identity Safe’ web site and then I receive the following:

You have exceeded the number of allowable attempts to sign in. Please try again in 1 hour.”

This just started two days ago. Need help!!

I am having the same problem and it is really P)(*&ing me off now.    I have been a loyal customer of Norton for years UNTIL NOW.   I need to have access to my online vault and I access it through out the day with various computers.  Now, I'm locked out.  This is BEYOND ridiculous.

Welcome,
The program is designed to lock up when passwords are sent to it very repidly. This can happen when a bad 'person' is trying to hack the account or when you have a faulty mouse that is sending double, or triple clicks each time you press the key. I've just replaced a mouse for that reason.

If you prove that it is the software then I'm sure the team will want all of the details so they can find and fix the problem. Please check your mouse and connections first.

Stay well and surf safe

Same problem for me today.   I've been using Identity Safe for months with no issue.  Now today, I can't get in and I'm getting the "locked" message.   I've been waiting all day and still can't get in.   How long do they lock the account for?    It's been six hours now!

I really doubt that 3 people are having "mouse" issues. I have a touchpad. The advice does not apply.

I am unable to access my vault through a new laptop with Windows 8. The laptop came with a trial of Norton and Norton Suite. I uninstalled that, rebooted the laptop and installed my version. nothing but trouble since. Even changed my password on another device. Uselessd.

I also am now having this issue.  I had yet to log on today, this PC had been re-started late last night before bed, and has been sitting there idling ever since.  I went to open the vault for the first time today and it has this error/warning that too many login attempts have locked it down.  I have not tried to open the vault since it was closed during the PC's re-start last night/early this morning.  Now my first attempt today brings on this warning.

Could someone be trying to gain access to all of our vaults?  Seems like that is a real possibility.  Need I be worried about my many many accounts?

Do we have any protection or safeguards from Norton ... or their interest in this matter?

Hi everyone,

Just to clarify -- the original post mentions the message  Is this the message everyone else is seeing? Or are the recent customers seeing the following message?

Tony Weis,

That is my problem.  Those are my popups too.  With the additional information as stated in my earlier posts.

Of course I can not speak for other posting members.

Hi gwnys,

Thanks for the quick reply. Are you still having this problem? If so, would you be willing to help us gather some information on this issue? Thanks.

I'm having the same problem. I was trying to get into the vault and was concerned someone tried to hack my account because I haven't had failed attempts recently. I logged out of my norton account and now can not get into either one.

I've been waiting for over an hour now to help you, and therefore all of us, to look into this problem as you asked.  I need to move on to other things now.  I hope this is not a serious problem and it gets worked out soon.

Good Luck

Re: Identity Safe exceeded the number of allowable attempts to sign in.

Tony,

As I said, I must do some other things.  I have been watching this topic almost 2 hours now and refreshing the page occasionally but there have been no further replies from you since you asked for help investigating this problem by providing you with additional information.  You must have had something of higher priority come up which is understandable.

I'll check for a few more minutes and then I'm going for a couple hours.  I'll check back later around 1:00 to 2:00 am EST, just in case you or another admin requests info and state exactly what you might need.

I am not so worried for the software to be working as I am worried this is indicative to hacking/fishing for access to member accounts.  I hope that is not the case, I'm sure you all feel the same.

I no longer have any "paid for" subscriptions from Norton, although for years I did maintain fee based Norton services.  Cost overcame necessity last year and unfortunately I've been  forced into using free protection since then.  I do however hope that although this is a free software issue that Norton still has interest to resolve this problem as they always did when I was a paying full services x3 customer.

Thank You and Good Evening,

Tony is a Norton Employee, name in bold red letters. His day has probably ended, but he should get back to you the next day.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. Our team has resolved the problem, but it might take some time to reflect for your account. Please try again in 24 hours, and it should be working fine. If not, please let me know. Thanks for offering your help and for waiting so long. Again, I'm very sorry.

Re: Identity Safe exceeded the number of allowable attempts to sign in.

I'll help debug this, too. Yesterday I spent 6 hours figuring out how to move my vault passwords from my HP laptop to my HTC Desire android phone; finally, I remembered the password to the online vault I set up from my phone months ago (my hint was a bit obscure), and it worked.

But now, today, suddenly I can't use the local vault on my laptop any more. Apparently I have to open the online vault, but it won't take my Norton account password. Then, of course, it freezes up and the only way to shut it down is Ctrl-Alt-Del to the Task Manager (Windows 7), Then a reboot is required before I can try again. What happened?

This is totally unworkable, this cloud. I'm now reduced to using a spreadsheet where I keep all my randomly generated passwords --- not very secure!

If I can help you get this working, fine. Otherwise, how do I dump the online vault and go back to the way it was working just fine? I exported my local vault DAT file yesterday morning, so it's safe and I can get it back. I'm ready to do a complete reinstall of Norton 360 (I do have the latest version, btw) if that will give me back my locally functioning vault. I'll also want to do the same on my phone --- completely detach myself from this cloud vault, delete it from the cloud, make it go away. But then, how do I import the DAT file on the phone? I can move it from laptop to phone by USB, but where do I put the DAT file on my phone so Norton ID can find it there?

Can't you just zap my cloud file, so I can get back to work? Thanks. Seems this idea was shipped prematurely.
