Identity Safe iOS App in UK

I'm unable to use this feature on iPad or iPhone as its only available in US store. Are there plans to move this over to Apple UK store ?

Re: Identity Safe iOS App in UK

Hi gruntmaster,

I have ID Safe (stand alone version) installed on my ipad3 and I never went to the apple store to download it.  I got it from here:

https://identitysafe.norton.com/mobile

Not sure this is what you are looking for - but it's worth a shot I guess.

Cheers

Yes, this is the app that I want. However, not available for download in the UK.

Is there no official response from Norton yet ?

Re: Identity Safe iOS App in UK

The workaround I used was to create a dummy Apple ID using a US address. It does not even have to be a real address (mine was not). It seems they do not check.

Then you can download the app.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Interesting workaround.  Any reason why Symantec have not released in UK?  Guess it might be some legal thing.

I'm in Canada, and it is not available here yet either.

Re: Identity Safe iOS App in UK

It is 2 months since the original post and the identity safe app for iOS is still not available from the app store.

The web page still directs people to the app store but it's not available from the uk store.

Can somebody from norton/Symantec please update this post to advise why the can has not been made available from the uk store please, especially as trying to use the online version is not very good on an iPhone or iPad.

thanks

Re: Identity Safe iOS App in UK

I am hoping for an update on this issue as well.

Still unable to access id safe via the iOS app store in the UK. Currently only available via US version.

Any timescales when this will be available or a workaround ? Have just renewed Norton 360 to multi-device version and disappointed can't get to work.

Many thanks.

See my post above for a workaround.

It does seem that they have very little to say these days - Perhaps they've decided to do as John McAfee (reportedly) has done recently, and have buried themselves in the sand and covered their heads with cardboard boxes in order to hide...

Hi Peterweb

Many thanks for suggestion. However this doesn't work for us here in the UK.

I'd tried this already but got same problem as User in another post

so not able to set up a dummy US address.

I appreciate your help though.

I can confirm that is does work in the UK.  I just googled setting up a US account on a UK ipad and followed the instructions about a month ago.  Done on iPhone as well.  Note that you will need a separate email account to associate with it.  You will of course need to switch back after installing as all your updates will stop downloading from the UK store.  Used Norton to logon and post this message.

I agree with others on this forum that it is frustrating that we have to "workaround" this situation.

Hi dunc-tt

Glad I persevered with this as managed to download App from the US store. Thanks.

I'd be grateful if anyone could comment on whither the Cards function works when using the Norton browser on their iPad.

Thanks again.

Re: Identity Safe iOS App in UK

Hi bhur14,

Glad it worked out for you in the end.   Not really used the credit card function for a while, and only on the PC anyway.  I suppose you should give it a go and see if it works.  If any sites don't work, there is probably a place this report this in norton support or the forums.

Good luck.

Re: Identity Safe iOS App in UK

Just finished 2 hour online chat with Norton 360 support who couldn't answer my query "Why can't I use my saved passwords on my iPhone?" and passed me on to someone else who eventually passed me on to someone in mobile department who told me that they no longer supported this problem and gave me a link to use for support.

Guess where this led me? Yes... HERE!!!

As you have come to this thread, are you located in the UK? If so you need to read the rest of the thread to see how to set up a dummy US Apple store ID.

Once you have done that, you need to download Norton Identity Safe from the Apple App store. Then you should be able to access your logins from the online vault you created on your PC. If you have not yet set up the ONLINE vault for your passwords, we can help you with that.

It is only the logins that you can access with your iPad.

Re: Identity Safe iOS App in UK

Thanks for reply. Yes I'm in UK. I read all the post ans several others for over 6 hours!

I think I first used Norton last century so no problem with PC setup.

My e-mail account is a .co.uk, my phones are all UK numbers. Apple knows! It rejects them all when trying to set up account and if I fake any of them then I can't get a verication message to use to open account.

I started with computers over 30 years ago, have built several, and finished my working life (over a decade ago) writing 'front-end processes' or scripts for an international airline. Correct me if I'm wrong, but dont we now call these processes apps?

I consider myself reasonably IT intelligent, but I'm obviously missing something, and I don't want to set up a completely new Hotmail or Google account. Besides they all insist on a phone number and/or a current email address.

You will need to use a different email account than the one that is registered with Apple. This is how you are being rejected. If you do not wish to  set up a Gmail or Yahoo account, maybe you can set up another user email with your current provider.

If you are not able to do that, you will have to wait until Norton sees fit to release Identity Safe in more countries.

Re: Identity Safe iOS App in UK

Can I join in with a "me too" on this.

Having been a Norton user for many users, I decided it was time to extend my password vault to the iPad only to find that it's not available to us poor UK users. And that people like me have actually been asking questions about for quite a long time.

I did try to set up a second Apple id for the US store, but of course as soon as I entered my correct billing address it switched it over to a UK registration (so I now have a useless second UK id which I need to find a way to delete....).

I may go down the route of entering random American info another attempt but it sort of goes against my nature!

Please, please Symantec - can you sort this out for the overseas users!

As you found, as soon as you enter any UK info, you will be kicked out.

Others have made it work, but I think you have an option to not enter billing info. That is what you need to choose. Also, be sure you are not using the same email address as your main UK account.
