Identity Safe Issue

Norton Identity Safe has issues identifying unique web portals.  anniemac.appraisalscope.com/login is considered the same as clarocity.appraisalscope.com/login, and so when the client assigned user name is the same, Identity Safe attempts to change the password of one login when I log into the other site.  It also does not allow me to manually enter a login with the same user name, if it identifies the site as the same when it is not.  For example Identity Safe considers https://caportal.appraisalscope.com/login to be the same as https://valutrust.appraisalscope.com/login, so when I attempt to enter the user name provided by the different client, which is the same user name for both sites, Identity Safe tells me I already have a user name for this site and will not accept the new login.  Why does identity safe not use the entire url to identify the login?

Re: Identity Safe Issue

Good evening,

that does not seem to me to be an issue.

On the other hand, it seems to me that the management of subdomains for the automatic registration and filling of identifiers before Norton identity safe would be a big step forward.

This is a recommendation I have been thinking about for a long time, and which also annoys me regularly. But that I had not yet taken the time to formulate on the forum.

Sincerely

Good night.

I hope the community and the Symantec team will give a good feedback on this suggestion.

What match criteria does Norton Identity Safe employ?

What match criteria options does Norton Identity Safe offer?

Re: Identity Safe Issue

Yes it is.

It would be a very good way and improvement for Norton Identity Safe too.

Thanks bjm_ for this little benchmark.

Re: Identity Safe Issue

To answer questions added when editing your post, I think the current criterion used by Norton Identity Sae is clearly: "Domain" !

It is good, but it is sometime not sufficient.

The ideal would even be that this criterion is "Domain" by default. And that it can be modified when it is necessary for certain subdomains.

The problem occurs when:

  • in 2 subdomains associated with the same domain, the user has two accesses with the same login but not the same password. It is impossible to register both accesses.
  • much less problematic, in 2 subdomains associated with the same domain, the user has two accesses with different identifiers and password. The filling is not necessarily done with the right set of data. This is like when there are several accounts on the same page not examples (2 email accounts in a couple for example), except that in the case of subdomains, it is possible to have a technical solution to simplify the process. use of the user.

Have a good night.

Re: Identity Safe Issue

Thanks.

I'm not a fan of auto-fill n' auto-submit.
I haven't touched Norton Identity Safe, long time.

How does Norton Identity Safe confirm domain name match?

Re: Identity Safe Issue

It is apparent that Identity Safe uses the domain name as the identifier in the login database, and will not allow duplicate user names within the same domain name login, even if the password is different.  This presents a big issue for me, as many of my clients use the same domain to host their portals for obtaining and submitting work.  So I must be able to use the subdomain name (or full URL) to identify the login within the vault.  As my client base grows, the issue becomes less tolerable, to the point where I will have to stop using Identity Safe if I cannot find a work around.
