Identity Safe Keeps Asking to Log In to Norton Account

Recently upgraded to Norton Security (from NIS 2014), and now every time I reboot my computer, my Identity Safe requires that I log in to my Norton account first.  When I try to open the vault, it comes up with a "Getting Started" screen.  So I have to log in to my Norton account, then wait for Norton to send me a security code via SMS, and then I can finally enter my Vault security code to unlock it.  Everything works fine after that, but as soon as I shut down and restart my computer, I have to go through the whole thing again and again.  This has been going on for the past 2 to 3 weeks, and it is driving me nuts.  Can someone please tell me how I can bring this madness to an end?  I just want to go back to the way it used to be with NIS 2014, where I simply had to ender my security code to open the vault for Identity Safe.  I greatly appreciate any help you can provide.

Re: Identity Safe Keeps Asking to Log In to Norton Account

I usually use the local vault, so do not see the 2 step authentication. I tested with my online vault and I see what you are seeing. I Iooked around in Settings for some way to disable this, but could find a way.

It must be a way of ensuring the security of the passwords stored online.

Maybe someone else can comment.

Re: Identity Safe Keeps Asking to Log In to Norton Account

Thank you peterweb.  Just as an FYI, I am also using the local vault.  It is the local vault that is causing me all of these problems.  The first time I open a web browser, after starting the computer, I click on the "Vault Is Closed" button, on the Norton toolbar, and the Identity Safe screen comes up and sits there for several seconds.  It eventually pops up a box that says "Get Started".  I have to click on that button, then it asks me for my Norton Account username and password.  Once I log into there, it sends me a security code via SMS text to my mobile phone.  Once I enter that security code it them prompts me for my Identity Safe password.  After entering that the vault will finally open.  Prior to installing Norton Security (I previously had Norton Internet Security 2014) I would only be prompted to enter my Identity Safe (Vault) password and I would be right in.  Not sure why this new two-step (actually 3-step) process is now necessary.  Another thing to note; this only happens on one of my computers.  I also upgraded from NIS 2014 to Norton Security on my work PC, and my travel laptop, and neither of those make me go through this multi-step process.  Those other two computers still open the vault with a simple Identity Safe password.  Anyone have any idea what is going wrong here?  Is there a setting for the multi-step process that I just need to shut off?  I appreciate any helpful direction.  Thanks, and I wish all of you a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

Re: Identity Safe Keeps Asking to Log In to Norton Account

From what you describe, it is an online cloud vault that you are signing into. It is possible that as you upgraded to Norton Security, you missed, or misread one of the prompts from the ID Safe.

It is possible you still have a local vault as long as you did not click on a prompt to merge, or convert. Look in the ID Safe log in window for a link to Open Local Vault.

If it is there, click on it. If it is not there, it looks like you have been converted to the cloud vault. The only way to get local back is to revert to your NIS 2012 version, create the local vault, then do an over the top install of the new NS. If you need this, we can give links and more information.
