Identity-Safe need a norton product be installed for ID-Safe use?

Must a Norton product, like Norton Security, be installed on a particular computer if a user is to be able to use Identity-Safe a sign-in to his log-in combination for a website?  This would assume that the browser is Google Chrome and Identity-Safe Toolbar is added as an extension from the Chrome Web Store, but that no other Norton product is installed (NONE of Nortons neither of Norton Security, Norton 360, Norton Internet Security, Norton Anti-Virus,... no anything of Norton), and that the user previously created and added log-in combinations to a Cloud Vault.

Hi g_cafe_c,

Have a look here:

https://identitysafe.norton.com/

It is completely free and you do not need any Norton Product.  If you had a cloud vault, you probably already have a Norton Account, and you should be able to use that account to get into the Cloud Vault.  You can try it and see if it will work, or you may have to create a new Account.  This password manager is referred to as a Identity Safe Stand Alone (IDSS).

Let us know how things go.

yank,

Thanks for the information.  I am interested in REALLY KNOWING.  The possible plan is to have another family member buy or somehow be given a new computer, which will use Windows 10, but probably will NOT be given any Norton product installation.  The person would still want to use that person's currently active Cloud Vault for usernames & passwords for websites on which this person signs into.

Now the site you reported of identitysafe.norton.com has something to download.  I would expect that the person in question who may one day start to use a new computer with Windows 10, should not need to register for a new Cloud Vault but should be able to use the person's already existing Cloud Vault.  Want use person's current existing ID Safe password to reach person's logins for any of person's registered webpage accounts.

yank or anybody, will this thing from identitysafe.norton.com work the way I or we expect?

The stand alone version works exactly the way the ID Safe within a Norton Security product does. You still log into your Norton Account and then the into the vault.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Thanks, peterweb.  That will help very much.
