I downloaded Norton Identity Safe mobile from the play store, it says not compatible with my RCA Viking Pro tablet?
It is possible that RCA has made some proprietary changes to the Android system used on their devices, that can render some apps incompatible. I'll see if I can get some news on compatibility on this device.
Where did you purchase this device?
I bought it at Walmart.com. Android 5.0 (marshmallow OS). Thank you for anything you can find out!

Unfortunately, yes. I found that the tablet says the ID safe app is already installed, but not listed in the apps to uninstall? I have the ID safe on my other tablet and they are synced, could that be part of the problem? The app on Google Play still says that the app is not compatible with "No carrier Alco RCT6303W87DK". I don't know if that will help or not. It shows compatible with my NextBook tablet and my Motorola phone, and is installed on both. Please let me know if you can figure it out, I sure am stumped!
Where do you see that it is installed on the tablet? Is there an icon you can tap to see if it will start?
When I am directed to Google Play, it says "Installed" not "install". Nothing on the tablet shows that it is installed, so no button to try to launch it. I Have clicked the button anyway, says ID safe will be installed shortly, but never is.
Try going to your Android Settings - Apps. Look for the Google Play Store. Clear the app cache and the app data. Restart the tablet. You will probably have to sign back into the Play Store when you open the Play Store app.
Then look for the Norton Mobile Security app again and see what messages you get.
OK, I cleared the cache, but when I clicked to clear data, I got a warning that it includes files, settings, accounts, etc. that will also be deleted. Is that what I want to do?
You can try to install again after just clearing the cache. But my suggestion was to clear the the app data so that that information you list will be deleted. That is why I noted you would have to sign back into the Play store. My guess is that the notation that you have already installed is in those files and settings.
I cleared the data as well, signed back into Google Play, choose the Norton ID Safe password, and got "Your device isn't compatible with this version." I can't find a different version either. But at least it showing installed anymore...
I have asked for some help with your issue, to see if maybe it is a device specific issue. You may not hear anything until next week now.
More info, I had to uninstall and reinstall Norton on my PC. Now the RCA tablet says its installed again, but nothing in apps. Followed your directions again and no longer shows installed. Is it possibly because I use the same password for the ID Safe that it showed installed again?
And still shows incompatible with the RCA tablet.
I think the issue with it showing as installed in Google Play Store is more to do with your Play Store information. Do you have any other Android devices with ID Safe installed?
Yes, I have on my phone and my old Nextbook tablet.
We'll have to wait to hear from Norton on this. I've asked again for help.
This could be because a required hardware is missing in your device. Could you check if the GPS module is present in your tablet? I'm trying to check if this is the reason behind the issue. Thanks.

Norton Mobile Security requested my location and I did not receive any error messages. I had my location tuned off? It is on now and shows today's date as location last reported. I will try again now that the location is turned on.
So do you have NMS installed now? That would be the only way the location feature would work.
Is it just an update to your current NMS that is showing the incompatibility issue?
Look on your tablets app pages from the home screen. See if you can find a icon for NMS among all the apps on your tablet. If you do find the app, open it and tap on the three bars at the top left and tap on About. Let us know what the version of your current install is.

Wanted to jump in.... received my RCA Viking Pro 10.1" 2-in-1 Tablet 32GB Quad Core from Wal-Mart and it gives the same message on a couple of my apps (like Passport America) that work fine on my Verizon phone. States the verison is not compatible. Will follow this thread in hopes of a solution.
Thanks for reporting this. As you say there are other apps with the same issue, it does sound like RCA is using a proprietery version of Android that does not play well with some apps.
The fix for this issue is available in the latest release. Could you try updating the product and confirm if it works?

Things made for your Verizon phone may not run on a tablet. Your Verizon phone may have come with its own security program also.
Hello, sorry it took so long to get back here. I'm not sure what worked of the suggestions presented, but I believe the update did the trick, Identity Safe installed and working!
