Identity safe not prompting for login after new version install

After installing the newest version of Internet Security the Identity Save no longer prompts for login. I have to click the toolbar to open the vault and then log in and then it more or less works as it used to (some logins are wankie)

I really would like it to just prompt me. I have checked the settings and it seems they unchecked themselves. Really.. I check them, apply them and next time they're unchecked.

Can I just reinstall the old version and get on with my life? I'm really not impressed with this update, don't see the benefits slower.. sigh.

I hate "new and improved" when it's not

Thanks for any help

Ann

Unfortunately one of the many still existent "bugs" in the current 2014 version release.  Norton was made aware of it months ago and has supposedly been working on a "yet to be released" patch to correct it.  This particular bug exists in the product in two basic forms-

1) The "not prompting" variant, which you, I, and many others have - and,

2) The "continuously prompting" variant, which has also been posted about by other users.

The option setting (which one would might think should be the control for this behavior) was added via a patch several weeks after 2014's initial retail release.  It was after this "patched" addition installed that I first noticed the "prompting bug" manifestation.

As for the option setting not "sticking", I believe it to to be directly related to the broken prompting behavior.

Kind regards,

John

Re: Identity safe not prompting for login after new version install

When you say it no longer promts for login, are you refering to logging into the vault or filling in a log in when you are browsing?

I have found the response time can seem to be delayed a little after navigating to a site requiring a log in. If I wait a few seconds, the vault login prompt will appear.

After you are logged in, there is a change that requires you to click in one of the data entry boxes before your vault entry options are displayed.

As to the settings not sticking, have you tried changing the settings while logged into a Windows adimin account?

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Hi Peter,

Please refer to the following response posted by Prasanna:

...in the thread I started regarding this bug back in October:

As the Senior IT Administrator at my company, I can assure you that the systems accounts that I use all have Full Local & Domain-wide Administrator rights and privileges...

Kind regards,

John
