Identity Safe Password Security Problem

When using Identity safe for a banking site I check off "Require Identity Safe Password Before Filling" which I thought was a good way to protect my password.  However if you go into "settings" and  "edit logins" you can display the passwords without entering any password.  This defeats the whole idea of having password protection!!!   In Firefox it requires you to enter your password before displaying site passwords.  At a minimum you should have the sites that I check "Require Identity Safe Password Before Filling' protected.

Re: Identity Safe Password Security Problem

Hi,

But you have to log into your identity safe [the vault] before you can see anything. Are you suggesting that a second level of password protection be added?

Thanks

Re: Identity Safe Password Security Problem

Absolutely!   The whole function of having the box checked to require the Identity Safe password is defeated when you can just browse passwords.  The reason for this protection is if you go away from your computer for a while so every time you go away you don't have to log off.  Why would Symantec put the option in for as they say certain secure sites such as banking when it leaves the back door open?

Re: Identity Safe Password Security Problem

Hi,

I make it a habit to lock or log out every time I leave my computer. Saves having to explain why some of my coworkers were able to send 'I love you' or other 'interesting' messages to various supereiors and officials.

Keep us posted

Re: Identity Safe Password Security Problem

The whole point is it makes no sense to have a box to check to require your Identity Safe password before filling in the site password and then having a simple way to bypass the security.  Somebody at Symantec needs to explain the logic behind this!

As long as someone has physical access to your computer, I can see the point you are making. I also see Dick's point, that if you are that concerned about the security of your information, you should lock or log off before leaving the computer.

This sounds like a good suggestion to make for the Norton Products. You should post this on the Product Suggestions board here   http://community.norton.com/t5/Product-Suggestions/bd-p/Suggestions

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
