Identity Vault is not always open in Chrome

the Norton tool bar does not always come up when I go to a site with chrome but it does with IE.  If the tool bar does come up sometimes it tells me that the vault is closed and will not let me open it but the vault was open on another site just prior to opening the current site where says it is closed.  Very difficult to do banking operations with this problem when using either MS Money or Quicken and trying to download statements or activities.

Hello caminkid

Does Chrome sometimes work with those 2 programs or never? If never, then perhaps the companies have recently changed their websites and Chrome doesn't know about the changes. If it works with IE, then use IE with them.

Thanks.

Re: Identity Vault is not always open in Chrome

Hello BigM

You are the one who mentioned that the sites work with IE. If you need to do banking with the use of the vault, then you could just use IE for that and then go back to Chrome if it isn't working when you have to do your banking stuff. Just a suggestion since IE seems to be the only one that works consistently now. Please don't take my head off you two.

Thanks.

Re: Identity Vault is not always open in Chrome

I'm having same problem.  I use the vault to sign in to a page, sign out of that page.  Open another site, and suddenly there are vault problems.  Vault shows closed even though I just used.  I try to open it, and get a screen with no user same, and a password field that is red.  I try to open vault through system tray, no luck. Closing browser, clearing history, etc are no help.  I opened a Norton chat while problem screen was open.  Of course, she ignored it.  Could not reproduce the problem while on chat after she rebooted pc, but today is the 4th time in the last 2 or 3 weeks.

Re: Identity Vault is not always open in Chrome

H Kathy07,

I am a bit confused by your first image.  There is no title block,  login URL, nor User name info.  I have never seen this without trying to Edit a log-in - which clearly you are not trying to do as the Edit is still available.

The RED Password box indicates it is a weak password.

Please tell us your Operating System, Norton Product (or is this a Stand Alone ID Safe Vault), version of your vault.  I ask, as there is no option in my NS Premium's ID Safe to open the Vault from the System Tray Icon.  Please also tell us which option you selected in ID Safe Settings > Security Tab

Norton Fighter, I am confused also by exactly those things.  Yet I see this often lately.

That 'weak password' is the same one that was indicated as strong when it was created.

Windows 10 on a PC. Norton with back up (although that's not as good of a feature as it used to be, since I can't go in and get a folder or file to replace one that was deleted or corrupted any more.)  In the bottom right of my screen, there's an up arrow that hides some running programs.  Norton is one of them.  (It's next to the monitor icon, speaker icon, clock and comment box.) ID Safe Settings Security Tab?  A box opened with Security, Identity, Back Up, etc. Is that what you mean? I selected Identity, then Identity Safe.  It's working at this very moment, and taking those steps opened a list of my log ins, appropriately listing saved logins, and giving me the option to open the associated URL.

I am even more confused now (happens with old age ).    I am aware of what you are talking about in regards to the up arrow that hides running programs.  I have gone into Settings to permit Norton icon to be shown in the Task Bar alongside speaker, clock and volume icons.  When I right click on it I get the following:

As you can see there is no listing for Identity Safe shown and I am running Norton Security Premium (shown as Norton Security with Backup in some places).  Version  22.7.1.32 on Win 10 Anniversary edition (up to date).  Perhaps if you could show what you see?  I did remove my Norton Icon from the Taskbar and then looked at it as you are (using the up arrow and the same choices were shown.

The Identity Safe Settings > Security Tab I am referring to can be reached a few ways - easiest for me is to select the three dots in the Norton Tool Bar and then select open Identity Safe Settings.  You should see something similar to the following: Please note this is an old image I had saved and the Enable Norton Safe Share no longer exists and I cut off the mage so my Norton Account email does not show.

It sounds like you used the Settings from the main page of NSBU instead of the Identity Safe Settings (shown above).  From your description the Settings from the main page you used are working correctly.

Your Security Tab should look similar to this:  Which option have you selected?

<EDIT>  I just read back over this and now have to add the above info is for Internet Explorer - I do not use Chrome - so not positive it may not be different.  Sorry if I have caused confusion.  Hopefully  a Chrome user will come along.

Re: Identity Vault is not always open in Chrome

Attached is how I attempt to open Identity Safe, when the vault does not appear at the top of the browser, or it is not working correctly.  I do not get a popup menu, as you show. When I try to go in through the program listing on the left of the keyboard, it's too confusing, as there are too many Norton folders.

I have Windows Pro 10 1607.

Re: Identity Vault is not always open in Chrome

Please try a right click on the Norton Icon - it should produce the same pop-up menu as I have posted above.
