Log-in info

I just upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10. Before doing so, I used Norton to back-up my computer.

Now, after the upgrade, whenever I try to log-in to a site, my log-in info doesn't work - no user ID or password.

When I open my vault and click on Password manager, all my log-in info is there. At the bottom of that page is a red exclamation mark on the cog-wheel (next to question mark). When I click on that, under General it shows Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google all with a green button. Above that is Enable Norton Safe Web. Under Browsing I have Always save my credentials when I log-in to a web site and below that is Turn off browser's password manager and Yes.

What do I have to do to get Norton to autofill my log-in info?

Thanks for help

Re: Log-in info

Hello boongsong. Remove and reinstall your Norton product. You can download the removal tool here. Your cloud vault/password manager should re-populate with the clean install of Norton.

Cheers

Re: Log-in info

Thank you SoulAsylum.

Did the RnR. No change. When I click on a link to a web site, no ID or PW appears. If I click on the blank ID block, the ID and PW shows. However, on some links, there are two IDs and PWs associated with that link but I don't get the question "which log-in do you want to use" like I used to.

Any ideas on how to get that back?

Appreciate your help.

Re: Log-in info

Have you installed the Norton Password Manager, NPM, extension in your browser(s)?  If not, open your Norton Security product, double click on the Online Safety pillar, then click on Browser Extensions. Install the NPM extension.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Log-in info

Thanks peterweb.

When I open my Security tab, it shows Microsoft installed as default.

If I click on the down arrow, what comes up is Microsoft (default), Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer. I'm assuming that means it is available on any of those.

I usually use IE (at least in the past before Win 10 update) to access my accounts.

I then opened Firefox and clicked on extensions. Norton Password Manager, Safe Web, and Safe Search are all shown.

If I click on Extension, what comes up is a Norton Page "Browsing protection" thanking me for choosing Norton.

Still not able to get the "which log-in do you want to use" menu.

One other thing. If I click on a link, in the ID/PW blocks is a circle with three dots. If I click on that (in the ID block) I get a window asking me to log-in to my vault. When I log-in, what comes up is a user ID/PW. Never get the option for a 2nd ID/PW. I have several links that have more than one ID/PW - 1 for me and 1 for my wife. In the past, it was very easy to choose which to use as all I had to do was click on the drop-down button and both IDs/PWs would come up and I'd click on the one I wanted to use. That's gone now.

Don't know what else I can do. A total mystery to me.

Maybe I need to go to Support and ask them. I know they will want to do a remote, but, if that will correct the problem, that's ok.

That just indicates what browser is set as the Windows system default, and what browsers are available to be set as the Windows default. Nothing to do with Norton functions.

If you have the extensions installed in Firefox, can you try going to the web sites that are not filling in and see if there is any difference in NPM's behaviour?

I have not used IE since installing Win 10, so maybe others here can guide you through using NPM in IE.

Re: Log-in info

Thanks. A real pain in the a__ since Win 10 upgrade.

Just tried to log-in to my credit union. No go. Called them and they said do not use Windows or IE but Google instead.

Opened Google, typed in URL, what came up was the ID block with the 3 dots in a circle. Asked to open Vault. Opened Vault and  my ID appeared below the ID block. Clicked on it and then Log In. Again, PW block with the 3 dots in a circle. Clicked on it and my ID appeared with a right arrow. Clicked on the right arrow and my password entered, and was able to log in.

Seems to me that the problem is indeed Norton. Guess I'll just have to live with it.

Thanks for your help,

Re: Log-in info

Try the same web site while you are already signed into the vault. There will obviously be extra steps if you first have to sign into your vault.

Using IE in Win 10 should usually be a last resort, as MS seems to be phasing that out for the newer, safer(?), Edge browser. So that is not necessarily a fault with Norton.

The newer browser extensions work differently from the way the NPM used to work when it was part of your main Norton Security products. The main difference people are seeing is that you get signed out of your vault if you close the browser, or after a time out period expires. And there is no way to adjust the time out.
