Losing days of NS when upgrading

Norton told me I have 21 days of subscription left. I bought a new NS and put in my new product key, as prompted.  Now it tells me I have 366 days - the same amount as if I had zero days remaining on my previous purchase of Norton Security.  The software prompts did not give any warning that days would be lost from my old product key if I switch to a new one.  What can I do to get those 21 days added to the new key? Thanks!

New Key starts new subscription period.  Please Chat with Norton Support   ----Support can add remaining days for you.   Thanks

That did it.  Thank you for the assist BJM!  Also, in case this shows up on web searches, I was told this would work for future updates if I get NS from retail instead of online:

You need to synchronize the product to see the extended number of days.
To synchronize, please open the Norton product and click on the "Help" in the top right corner on the product.
In "Help" you'll see Subscription Status, please click on it. After clicking, a new small window will open which will connect to the Norton Server to retrieve the new number of days.

Yes, run Subscription Status syncs up with Norton back end after Support adds remaining days.  
Unless, they've automated the process and you did not have to go first to Support.

They were supposed to have done that. It should be tested out to see if they have automated that finally.
