MRS

Can anyone help please,   I have just installed Norton onto my new Windows 10 laptop.   I am now in the process of installing different apps that I need to use and did use on my old one.  There is one I am trying to install but Norton keeps telling me it is not safe ( although I know it is)  How do I get round  this please?

Re: MRS

Apps or software? Apps are from the Windows store. Exactly what is the software in question? Are you downloading this software or installing it from a disk? Also since it is a new laptop did you remove the pre installed antivirus before installing Norton? New laptops come with either Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky or Trend Micro. Unless it was a custom built laptop and you requested no antivirus.

Re: MRS

Sorry,  I am a bit new to this and get a bit confused.    I am a member of a shopping site and each week I download barcodes from a hand held scanner.   When I go on to do it now, the site ( Shop and Scan)  is saying it is quicker to download the desktop app and gives me a link to do this.  That way each week, I don't have to sign into the site, I just click on the desktop icon and download from that.  It is when I click to download it that Norton tells me it is not safe.

Hope that helps a bit more.   Thank you

Re: MRS

Is Norton Safe Web tell you that it is not safe? Like is the webpage blocked? Or do you get an alert in the bottom right corner? If it is a safe web warning you can still get to the site by click "enter anyways or allow access". Can you please post a screenshot.Thanks.

Re: MRS

You will need to post a false positive report with Norton. Here is the link.

Also did you read my previous reply about a pre installed antivirus?

Re: MRS

Hello

The site for the clicker description has scripts running on the site that the browser stopped and only displayed the safe material. Safe Web isn't blocking the site as all parts of the website are Green OK. I didn't try downloading anything.

A screenshot would help to determine just what part of Norton is complaining..

Thanks.

@Lillyprint:

Just to clarify, did U see the similar alert as follows?

(TIP: Please replace the above solitaire.exe with your Barcode generator. BTW, to do that, you need to gain the admin access on your Windows 10.)

If so, you can allow that app to run by enabling the option "Allow always". Hit this link to read related info re apps for Windows 10.

Thx :)

Re: MRS

She did not see a firewall alert. I downloaded the file and it is clean.

@PatsSoxBruins

Have you followed the link your provided and tried to follow those instructions from 2010?  They are from the old forum and will not work with this forum.

The proper link is as follows:

I suggest you take a quick look at the links you provide to ensure they [provide the correct and current  information.
