My eCommerce Website is Blocked

Hi,

I recently launched my eCommerce store and I can no longer access it while using chrome. If I use internet explore, which is an inconvenience due to plug ins I need on chrome, I am able to access my website. However, today Norton began blocking access to my site, and it warns "No known threats were found on this site, but...It asks for personal information and is not well established with the Norton Community. Use caution about entering any of your information on this site."

Furthermore, the web page has an option to proceed to my store's site, but when I click on it, it redirects me to a Norton page which prompts me to sign up for Norton services (I already have them). This is a huge inconvenience and Norton is potentially blocking my customers from accessing my site, which is powered by Shopify, and costing my a loss in revenues. Please help me. I love Norton, but this may be a deal breaker if it continues.

Re: My eCommerce Website is Blocked

I was on the Norton chat last night after submitting this forum post, and the lady took control of my computer and tried entering the meta tag into shopify and she still couldn't change the code. She said she would escalate the issue to have it resolved and someone would call me back as she didn't want to waste anymore of my time. The only thing I received is a standard template email stating I need to enter the meta tag, which is what she couldn't do! Please verify my page. This is costing me money, and it is a legitimate store powered by Shopify!

Hello Realm of Aphrodite

If you have registered the website with Safe Web, then please copy and paste the HTML file in this thread. Having the name of the site and that file is necessary to get your website verified.

After the verify process, then they will evaluate the site.  They will then post their results here.

Once you provide the HTML file, then I can proceed and get the site verified and evaluated.

Thanks.

Edit: I just checked the site and it is no longer being blocked.  It is now showing as unevaluated.

Please stay tuned to this thread for a response from the Safe Web Team on Wednesday night after midnight EDT.

Thanks again.

Re: My eCommerce Website is Blocked

I just tried accessing my site using chrome, and Norton still won't allow me to access it. It continues giving me "

No known threats were found on this site, but...

It asks for personal information and is not well established with the Norton Community. Use caution about entering any of your information on this site."

And when I click on "continue to site" it redirects me to this URL https://us.norton.com/

This is the page that keeps showing up. Again, I tried verifying my page with a Norton employee via the chat and even gave her control of my computer, and she still wasn't able to fix it.

Re: My eCommerce Website is Blocked

Thanks for screenshot.

Scam insight mostly works on heuristic based detection [on the fly detection with no database], it is implemented on Norton toolbar.

It make use of inputs like

1. Does it ask for personal information like credit card, SSN, login information,

2. How new this site is,

3. How many users visited it till now,

4. Suspicious whois info

5. Does it have any suspicious scam keywords

Since scam insight works in client side and it is on the fly detection, on fairly new sites, it may happen that site is rated as untested in safeweb.

Some users see it and others don't

This issues might be because some users/system/browser might have disable Norton toolbar or scam insight might have difficulty in collecting above mentioned details.

Note: Usually if websites get more users, scam insight starts trusting this site and reclassifies it as safe.

Report an incorrect evaluation of a website

  1. Open your browser and go to the website that you think is evaluated incorrectly.

  2. On the Norton toolbar, click Norton Safe Web Indicator.

  3. In the pop-up that appears, click Report this site.

  4. In the confirmation dialog box, click Submit.

Re: My eCommerce Website is Blocked

Hello Realm of Aphrodite

That Scam page comes up because it's a brand new site and not very many Norton users have come to the site. It will go away by itself after a few more attempts to access it. You can even try it a few more times and it should go away.

I just went to the site with no blockage using IE 11. Try cleaning out your cookies, and browser cache, close and restart your browser.

You should still have your site go thru the Safe Web process so that it can get rated.

Thanks.
