My IE stopped working after I downloaded the Norton Security

I ran a quick scan and removed some threats.
After that I rebooted and tried to open the Internet Explorer, but the screen kept saying" The Proxy server isn't responding"

So I checked the proxy settings. I went to Tool> Internet Options > Connection > LAN settings and unclicked the proxy sever checkbox and then clicked OK, closed IE and opened it and found proxy server setting reset itself. I thought  my laptop was infected so I 've gone into Regedit  and everything seemed to be ok. I ran aquick scan again and nothing was found. My connection is good, nothing else is wrong, all of my other programs are working, I also have Mozilla Firefox and it's running fine, but sometimes I need to use IE. Please help!

Re: My IE stopped working after I downloaded the Norton Security

What security software did you have installed before Norton Security?

Have you restarted your computer?

What threats were removed with your scans?

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Hello sanradee

Welcome to the Norton Community Forum

You do not get the best download or installation of any Norton product when you install it on an infected computer. Are you using Win 8? Have you run live update until there are no more updates and then restart? If you are running Win 8/8.1, you should turn off Fast Startup. A lot of programs including Norton and Windows updates needs to have it disabled so it gets a complete shutdown. Faster is not always better.

Please check the History Log and click on Unsolved Security Risks and see if anything is in there. Not all the malware may be removed.

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 10 Pro 64 bit Norton Core Security Plus Core Firmware 282 I E 11 Chrome latest version.
