My Sweetheart has become quite slow and ignorant since Microsoft took it over a few days ago.

This pore old thing might need to retire. A few days ago Microsoft sent a message it had new revisions to make and wanted control of my computer. Being the dumb-a__ Hillbilly I am I let'em in. Under the circumstances at the time, I did not check to see if they were ligit. Now it runs quite slow, espescially keeping up with typing, and gone to the wrong place a few times.

First thing to do is a full system scan with your Norton product. The do a scan with Norton Power Eraser from the scans menu in Norton. Then do a scan with the free version of Malwarebytes.  http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/

Be sure you do not accept the offer of the free trial of the Premium version.

Let us know the results of these scans.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Hello Terry. If after performing the recommendations previously posted you do not see significant changes in performance. My recommendation is to backup your documents and files while making sure you have the reinstall media for any programs you may need to reinstall. I've had several customers who fell for these scams, having to reset their devices fixed the issue. Here is the official Microsoft guide to reset / reinstall your Windows 10 OS. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026528/windows-reset-or-reinstall-windows-10

Cheers

Hello Terry. I'm following up to see how things are and whether you followed our recommendations.
