Netgear EX6200v2

I have installed a Wifi Range extender Netgear EX6200v2.
The laptop connects correctly with this router to the internet, but I can't open any website.
Error messages:
- check proxy, firewall and DNS configuration
Disconnecting Norton Firewall and Auto-Protect doesn't solve the problem.

Can this still be a firewall problem - conflict Netgear with Norton?
Thanks for your feedback.

Re: Netgear EX6200v2

How do you "disconnect" Norton? You mean disable? Can any of your other devices connect to it? There is no conflict between Norton and Netgear. Which connection are you connecting to? I have installed tons of Netgear Wifi Range extenders with no issues. But you need to change your connection to the range extender and not your router. So suppose your wifi name is "ABC123". Your extender will now be broadcasting a new wifi named "ABC123-2" or something along those lines. You need to be connecting to the "ABC123-2". You can reset all firewall settings in Norton but that only resets your programs. Not your internet connection. If you unplug the extender and connect just to your normal router can you get on? If so then it is not Norton. Are you connecting to the router or the extender? Your laptop connects to the extender or router. The router connects to the internet. So if you can connect to the the router then most likely it is a router problem. Have you restarted your devices? Unplug the router and extender for 60 seconds. Turn off your laptop. Plug in your router and extender. Let them full boot up. Then turn on your laptop. Is your connection set as trusted under Norton firewall?

Which OS are you using? And have you applied the latest Microsoft "Patch Tuesday" updates already for Dec 13th?

Re: Netgear EX6200v2

Hello

Please check your Netgear router is on this list of possible ones which can get hacked.

http://kb.netgear.com/000036386/CVE-2016-582384  Not sure if Windows Updates would have a fix for this or not.

Thanks.

Re: Netgear EX6200v2

@YvesRobeyst,

plz keep an eye on the official website. Because the following products are vulnerable to arbitrary command injection:

Netgear R6200, R6250, R6400, R6700, R6900, R7000, R7100LG, R7300, R7900, R8000, D6220, D6400, and D7000 routers and possibly other models are vulnerable to arbitrary command injection.

More, which operating system are you using? Windows 10? If so, try re-updating your system ASAP. See related info here.

Your WiFi connection problem might be related to a recent Windows bug that knocks out Wi-Fi, and the majority of affected users are running the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607).

Re: Netgear EX6200v2

@floplot,

Is your "K" button stuck?

Guys, the Netgear EX6200v2 is not a router, FYI.

But sure, YvesRobeyst may also have a Netgear router.

A little bit of knowledge is... well a little bit of knowledge.

Re: Netgear EX6200v2

OE poster has not been back to respond so call this closed. I am fully aware that EX6200v2 is not a router. I install wifi range extenders all the time. Work like a charm.
