no longer able to log into identity safe after reboot on work laptop.

After a recent reboot I am no longer able to log into Identity Safe.  I enter my email address and click "Next" and it appears to be searching for my account but nothing further than that happens even after waiting 20 minutes or more.  I'm using IE9 (and have tried IE8 compatibility mode as well on Windows 7 Enterprise.  I've also tried this with my corporate VPN connected and disconnected with the same result.  Another thing I tried was to uninstall and then reinstall the software all to no avail.

Did you try rebooting again? Sometimes, a Windows system needs to be rebooted a couple of times to bring everything back in line.

Yes, several times already and still the same.

What Norton product and version are you using? Click on Support - About from the main Norton screen.

Or are you using the stand alone version of Identity Safe?

I have asked your thread be moved to the Identity Safe//Norton Toolbar thread for better exposure.

Re: no longer able to log into identity safe after reboot on work laptop.

I'm using the stand-alone version of Identity Safe - currently it's 2014.6.0.27 version, 2014-0117.007 Web Protection Definition and 1.5.0.167 Web Form definition.  It just updated to this version this morning and requested a reboot which I performed but I still have the same result - enter my email address and hit "enter" - it says briefly "looking for account..." and then the tumblers in the graphic just keep spinning and nothing happens.

Hi skyflight19,

I find it strange that it just upgraded this AM, as version 2014.6.0.27 which I just downloaded is shown as being released three months ago and having thousands of users - so it is not  a new version???

Here is the orginal announcement:  http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Toolbar-Norton-Identity/Norton-Identity-Safe-Standalone-2014-product-update/td-p/1036995

If possible have you checked for addtional updates?

This is how you have to do live update manually in the standalone product:

1. Launch browser with toolbar

2. Click on the Norton button on the toolbar and select About Identity safe from the list

3.Click on Check for new updates from the window which opens

4.The live update will run and pull you the updates.

Thanks Yank,

I was surprised too when I booted this morning and tried the stand alone tool again and when I looked at the tools noticed it was asking for a reboot to install the latest version.  I downloaded and installed directly from Norton last Tuesday so I'm not sure why it wasn't the latest version already.  Even after the reboot this morning it is still behaving the same way - it appears to be looking up my email and then nothing except the lock tumbler icon spinning and spinning.

Re: no longer able to log into identity safe after reboot on work laptop.

You said you were using IE9 and also tried IE8 (even compatibility mode) - can you by chance try to log in using Firefox?  With the Stand Alone, even if your primary browser is IE, you can do still updates via FF.

My work laptop only has FF Portable and it's not supported and I'm not permitted to download another browser unfortunately.

OK, understand - about the only other thing I can think of is to Uninstall the current Stand Alone program and reinstall a fresh copy from https://identitysafe.norton.com/ .

Re: no longer able to log into identity safe after reboot on work laptop.

As this is a work laptop, is it managed by the IT department? They may have set some policy to protect IE from personal add ons.

Check with the IT department to see if they can tell you if what you are trying is possible.
