No Safe Web icons in search results

ok this has gone on long enough- I have been having htis problem now for almost 8 months and all I hear is 'they are workign on it' OR "It's the fault of Yahoo' or whatever-Your safe web icons are MISSING from search results in ALL search engines, so please don't tell me it's 'yahoo's fault' or google's fault' or wehatever- MacAfee safe web icons (Which I had to download because I want a precheck of links which Norton's Internet security is no longer providing) work just fine in ALL the search engines, so the excuse that the fault lies with a search engine isn't cutting it anymore- Does nortons just not know what is causing the problem? Or are you actually working on a solution? I have the latest version of NIS, am running latest IE, windows 7- Is the problem with the 'do not track' protection in IE? Is it a problem with tracking protection lists that we enabled? What is the real issue here?

Re: No Safe Web icons in search results

Do you have ActiveX Filtering enabled?  If so, you need to enable ActiveX for your search engines, Google, Bing, Yahoo.

Do you have XML DOM Document extension enabled?  It needs to be for the icons to show.

Re: No Safe Web icons in search results

Hello

They work for me when I use Google. I do have the Norton Toolbar enabled. Sometimes I do have to refresh a page to see them.

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 10 Pro 64 bit Norton Core Security Plus 22.18.0.213 Core Firmware 282 I E 11 Chrome latest version.

Re Krusty: Yes I have both enabled and it's still not working

Re Flopot: Even refreshing the page doesn't work- (I use Yahoo search, but have tried others like bing and ask.com with the same problem)  and really this was never an issue in years past, but now all of a sudden it is- Something has changed with the latest updates- either the updates to NIS or to IE

Re: No Safe Web icons in search results

Hi, Nazareth. I use Google as my home page and when the icons disappear, I go to Settings at the bottom of the page, Search Settings, and check Never show instant results, then hit Save.

This is just a workaround, and the problem may reappear, but at least it does get the Norton icons to display again.

Nazareth,

Sorry if I wasn't clear  -  you need to disable ActiveX Filtering on Google, Bing and Yahoo.

Re: No Safe Web icons in search results

it was disabled, then I enabled it, still same problem- no change

F4e- Yeah, I don't use google for various reasons- - I've got the MacAfee site advisor plugin for now so that I at least get some indication of a links' safety, but I'd much rather Norton fix their internet security to actually work like the MacAfee does- nortons has been broken a long time now and there aren't really any answers-

Re: No Safe Web icons in search results

Hi, Nazareth. Agreed. In the meantime, do you have WOT installed ?

That's a user based malicious website indicator tool, and well worth having.

Re: No Safe Web icons in search results

Hi F$- no not WOT, but I do have Mcafee site advisor plugin for now- but even that doesn't work sometimes- but it works more often than nortons at least- I may have to close my browser several times, open it up again and type in my search query, in order for the icons to show up at all- hope nortons can get this figured out soon

Re: No Safe Web icons in search results

Hi, Nazareth

Try F5 page refresh.  Sometimes, I'll get SafeWeb Icons with F5

Re: No Safe Web icons in search results

Hi thanks, yeah I do try that- and try hitting the refresh button too- usually though I have to keep closing the search engine, opening it, close, open until the icons reappear-

Re: No Safe Web icons in search results

Hi, Nazareth. As an experiment, I followed Krusty's suggestion and disabled ActiveX filtering in IE 10 Tools Menus, and sure enough the Norton icons show in search results............

It seems it's one, or the other. Safe Search icons, or ActiveX filtering.

Thanks F4E but I've tried both ways and it's still not working- Very rarely do they show up now-

Re: No Safe Web icons in search results

folks, I don't know if this is going to be a permanent fix, but I was using a yahoo search icon which I made a desktop shortcut I had on my desktop to connect to internet search instead of the main IE icon on my computer- and I was getting constant missing safeweb icons in my search results- wel today I tried using the main IE icon, and safeweb icons show up every time so far- it seems that when I make a desktop shortcut, like to my Hotmail account, various sites I visit regularly, that nortons safeweb icons will not show up when I use them- even the icon at the top of browser is missing- but when I use IE icon, everything is working- so far anyways
