Norton and Google Tool Bars Disabled / all Add ons Disabled /re: My use of a Reimage Program

Hi Folks, Have been doing very well with Norton. I think the problem is from the PC reimage Program as it began right after. I had to reconfigure a bunch of other problems after I ran it as well. Did a reimage because this is my 1st PC. It was bought by a friend, in the Box and many , many files were corrupt or missing. So, I have figured out that if I right click Internet Explorer to & Click " run as administrator" the Norton and Google tool bars show up and all the add ons are enabled. Otherwise, tool bars gone and all add ons disabled and grayed out. Now here is the ridiculous part. I have only one account. I am the administrator and use my cable connected laptop with this one user account. Have made my account name the same as the PC name, Changed the security properties on the reimage to give permission to administrator et al, and more. The only thing that works is the right click as above. It has been hours and this is the finally thing and I can not fix it. Please, anyone know about this problem. Your help is much appreciated as I am stuck at home and feel I have wrecked my PC, which is my World, so to speak. Best, atHome34 Edit: forgot to say that if I do not open Internet Explorer with the right click, " Run as Administrator" I am not permitted to access my email account. Good grief, what have I done. Thought I hit gold. (:

Was the reimage the factory restore? If that is the case, you often have to reinstall the programs you use to bring them up to date.

What version of IE are you using? What operating system and service pack? What product and version of Norton are you using, Support - About?

Have you manually run LiveUpdate for your Norton product a few times, rebooting as necessary, until no updates are found?

In IE, are you able to start it, without right click, and go to the manage add ons page? Check you have the Norton Toolbar, and Norton Vulnerability Protection enabled.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
