Re: norton crash sometimes!

Hi georgi mihaylov 91,

Norton Security has been updated to version 22.8.1.14 since your first post. Did today's reinstallation give you this new version? If not, please run live update until it shows  no more available, check you have the new version, and also reboot. Let us know if this helped with your problem.

P.S. If you could you post images as explained here  they  would be easier to look at. Thanks.

Re: norton crash sometimes!

I see your OS  is  Windows 10 - If you have the Fast Startup feature enabled, you should disable it as it interferes with many programs, including Norton which needs a complete shutdown every now and then to work properly. Should you want to give it a try, please see Peterweb's post about Windows 8/8.1 or 10 and Fast Start feature

Keep us posted.

Re: norton crash sometimes!

no, i have not activated fast startup mode(The fast startup mode is off),I solved this months ago!

what I do?none of symantec want to answer?i'm a Norton member since 2004! the edition 2015/6 of norton is a disaster, only PROBLEMS this is not right.

ps: I say that the main service of Norton no crashes, crash (restart) only this (photo)

Re: norton crash sometimes!

At this point I would suggest to reinstall Norton, but this time do a complete uninstall starting with removing it from Control Panel, then run the Norton Removal Tool which does a deeper cleaning (compared to the NRnR tool) of your present installation.   Afterwards, you can download a preactived copy from your Norton Account. After the install, run LiveUpdate, rebooting when requested, until no more are found and then reboot once more.

Go through your Settings to make sure they are as you want.

Hope this helps.

EDIT:     Your "ps: I say that the main service of Norton no crashes, crash (restart) only this (photo)"   - Sorry, I don't understand what you mean - can you tell us a bit more? Thanks.

If you turned Fast Startup off and then received the Win 10 Anniversary Update, the Fast Startup feature will have been turned back on by the update.

Re: norton crash sometimes!

@georgi mihaylov 91:

maybe my comment is bit off-topic. Yet...

As to the 3rd image you attached, seems that Werfault.exe was trying to access the NS.exe due to some reason, and your NS blocked that attempt. Sorry if I am wrong.

  • attore ("actor"): werfault.exe
  • gravita (severity): medio (medium)
  • info: accesso non autiruzzato (unauthorized access) (and) accdedi dati thread (sign thread data?)

the werfault.exe is used for Windows Error Reporting. It is a feature that allows Microsoft to track and address errors relating to the operating system, Windows features, and applications.

Somehow, such application even system-level errors are too common to mention:

Windows is Windows.

You're still protected and please take it easy.

For more info, you may Chat with Norton Support.

Please post back if this or any other comment solves your problem. THX...

Re: norton crash sometimes!

ok I will try to explain again my problem!

norton works (at least I hope), when I open Norton,I check my history (chronology) and do the live update, all perfect!

when I close Norton (x) norton go in crash (auto restarts) interface! exactly this service in the picture

(the problem occurs ONLY at the closing of Norton)

This service remains stable, don't go in crash (photo)

this happens, 2-3 times out of 6

in the next days,I will try to use the tool (norton removal tool), if this does not work, next June i buy kaspersky!

pity that none of symantec want to help

PS I would like to thank @20750065 @peterweb @ Rainbow_2! I will keep you informed, if you still want to suggest something,i here, really thanks ! :)

Re: norton crash sometimes!

with sadness and disappointment, I again have this problem, after week again this problem! Today I downloaded a patch (3,63mb) and same problem again! Needless to say, I'm tired..

I run the norton removal tool, new windows profile !! and problem again , We bet that if I format(reset) the PC, I have the same problem you! We bet that if you step to a free solution, I will have fewer problems! this absolutely  is a problem of norton! needless to say I did everything possible. I installed it several times, even with Norton removal tool, I changed my profile windows,  more than this that what can I do?

what I do?nor any of symantec want to answer

Re: norton crash sometimes!

guys I solved the problem of Norton, I contacted Norton support twitter, It has advised me to go to the old driver! guess what, I have no more problems with norton, were the nVidia driver causing the problem.

i hate nvidia..all the latest nVidia drivers give me problems...with the last 3 nvidia drivers will no longer appear the bottom right icon, What is happening now with the current driver ie appears nvidia icon.

You would be surprised how many times I see users reporting that installing Windows 10 broke the system and that the solution was to backtrack from the installed driver for this or that function, especially with the drivers for what's on the motherboard in most cases like audio and video.

Good to have the report on NortonSupport on Twitter

Re: norton crash sometimes!

the truth is that the last 4 released drivers from nvidia they gave me problems, but I never thought that the problem was from the driver, In fact, with new drivers (375.70) not displayed the icon of nvidia driver in the hidden icons bottom right (newly installed) ,with current 368.61 the icon has appeared automatically, with the last four(new) drivers do not the appears icon, this thing with icon that do not appear sign that the drivers do not work well

Re: norton crash sometimes!

As you may know already the Device Manager has a Roll Back Driver button that is not always active but is that what you used to get the earlier driver or did you have to search for it?

Is this a desktop PC with an ASUS video chip? That's what I have but I recently disabled the video on board and installed an inexpensive but more recent video card although not a high-powered one for what I do with the PC.
