Norton Identity Safe- little grey button

Hi.  I am using the most recent version of Chrome, Win 7 Pro (fully updated), Norton Security (fully updated), and Norton Identity Safe.

Just to the right of the URL bar (upper right corner) there is a grey button titled, "Norton Identity Safe".  When I used NIS with IE 11, pressing that button would bring up the Norton toolbar and the color of the button would turn green.

This fails completely when I switched to Chrome.  I'm sure lots of people have found this, but I was unable to locate a thread describing the issue.  Please give me some advice on how I can activate that grey button.  Thanks.

Re: Norton Identity Safe- little grey button

Please follow the instructions in this KB Article "I cannot find the Norton Identity Safe Toolbar on my web browser"

Re: Norton Identity Safe- little grey button

There is no button for "Detailed Settings".

Re: Norton Identity Safe- little grey button

Detailed Settings is not a button but the name of the page which appears when you click Settings on Norton main page. You can then click Identity Protection as per the KB Article mentioned above and follow the steps.

Re: Norton Identity Safe- little grey button

I want to thank you for your help.  After your advice, I was able to locate the Detailed Settings page.

However, when I went to install the Extension for Chrome I found it was already present.

So my problem with the little grey button remains unresolved.

Re: Norton Identity Safe- little grey button

Can you please post a screenshot showing that "little grey button" position in Chrome? If it is, as per your op Just to the right of the URL bar (upper right corner) there is a grey button titled, "Norton Identity Safe"., I don't have that grey button perhaps because I don't use Norton Identity Safe? How to post an image in the forums

Also, I'm not clear whether you do have the Norton toolbar showing in Chrome. If you do, try clicking the three dots to the right of Shopping Guarantee. A small window will appear showing Open Identity Safe Settings at the bottom. Does that help?

And last but not least, although in your op you mention you are using the most recent versions of Chrome, Norton Security, and Norton Identity Safe, can you please specify their versions?

Chrome version. click the three small dots at the top right > Help > About Google Chrome

Norton Security version: Norton main page > Help > About

Norton Identity Safe version: click the three small dots at the top right > More tools > Extensions

EDIT: Please be aware that you may be unable to post a screenshot since IMCE is not working correctly at present.

Re: Norton Identity Safe- little grey button

Norton has changed the 'little grey icon' so that it stays grey. It no longer changes as you use it. And I am new to Chrome, but that button does not have much functionality on its own. You still access your vault from the Norton Toolbar by clicking on Vault is Closed/Open.

I'd like to thank everyone for your continued generous patience.

Two useful screenshots attached.

Answers to your questions-

Clicking three dots next to Shopping Guarantee did not give me a way to bring the Norton Toolbar down once raised.

Google Chrome-  Version 56.0.2924.76 (64-bit)

Norton Security-  Version 22.8.1.14

Norton Identity Safe-  Version 1.0.5

Re: Norton Identity Safe- little grey button

If the Norton Toolbar is not visible, you would not see the 3 dots beside the Shopping Guarantee. What you need to do to get the Toolbar to display is click on the little black icon at the right of the Chrome address bar.

Once the toolbar is open, the three dots can get you access to ID Safe settings, plus control over the Safe Search and Safe Share options. Open Vault gets you access to your logins.

Re: Norton Identity Safe- little grey button

Turns out that clicking the little black box to the right of the little grey button drops the Identity Safe toolbar back down.  Problem solved.

Thanks to everyone who participated.
