Norton IDSafe different on the 3 most popular browsers

Wouldn't it be nice if Norton managed to get IDSafe working the same across the three most popular browsers (Chrome, IE and Firefox)?

If I launch Outlook.com with my vault enabled on my Windows 7 desktop pc, I get:

(a) No autofill of either my email address or password on Chrome;

(b) Autofill of my email address but not of my password on IE11

(c) Autofill of both on Firefox.

In addition, my Norton toolbar on Chrome has suddenly sprouted an extra item (namely "Shopping Guarantee). However, this doesn't appear on my Norton toolbar on either IE11 or Firefox.

Come on Norton, if other password managers like Lastpass and Dashlane can manage it properly on various browsers, why can't you? Why on earth is it taking so long to get it right (I recall we were promised that August 2016 would be your target for redesigning IDSafe)? We could be forgiven for thinking that your technicians might not be up to the job. So maybe another option would be for you to scrap IDSafe and licence Lastpass or Dashlane instead?

The new feature for the Shopping Guarantee was introduced with the latest Norton update to v 22.8.1.14 . See the product announcement here.   If you check back on the announcement link in a day or so, there should be a link to the information on the new feature. That will show that it is for the Chrome browser only.

Thanks peterweb.

But that just reinforces my point - why is this new feature only available for the Chrome browser?

Personally, I would rather they spent their effort on harmonising IDSafe for all browsers (or at least for Chrome, IE and Firefox) instead of introducing new features like this that credit card companies and banks largely provide anyway.

Hello

I can see why it would be for Chrome only. I was just on a shopping site and I saw a very similar thing that was  provided by Google.. The Firefox Extension is a new limited functioning item which did come out in the beginning of Sept. Please check the Announcements on top of this Forum. The Extension is separated from the Toolbar for Firefox. The ID Safe for IE 11 and for Chrome are still using the old type of ID Safe.

Thanks.

Hi floplot.

I take the point about the FF extension, but they haven't changed Chrome or IE so why does it not appear on IE as well as Chrome.

All this seems to support my original comment that Norton seem incapable of (or unwilling to) harmonising IDSafe across the popular browsers.

Just a thought.

It is possible that they are trying to work out all the kinks in the new FF extension before porting it to the other browsers.
