norton no longer supports 'Green Icon" safe search results going forward
After chatting with a supervisor via the live chat, asking them why I no longer received the "Green Icon" next to websites when I did a search using Firefox, on either Yahoo or Google, they said it was a technical issue and wanted to remote into my computer.
I inform them that this issue was happening on all three of my devices at the same time, two of which were windows 8.1 and one windows 10. No, I did not think this was a technical issue to be resolved by remoting into my computer.
They again said they needed to remote into my computer, this was a "technical issue."
I then denied them permission to remote into my computer, as this was an unnecessary violation of my privacy, this technical issue was not on my machine, but with norton.
I was then informed ( by the supervisor who had joined the live chat) that going forward, norton would no longer support the "Green Icon' next to search results for firefox, regardless of the search engine.
first, if this was known, why did they ask to remote in to my computer for a"technical issue" ? Serious question of norton and the automatic necessity to " let me remote into your computer for a technical issue". Complete and unnecessary violation of privacy.
second, firefox announces months before its new release, the date of the release, and norton cannot work with one of the largest browsers on the planet to get the scripts right?
Why can norton not support the "Green Icon" next to search results as it has for years? I have had subscription since December 2012.
With the visual search results the entire family fees safe and reassured, now we are told "if you attempt to log into a malicious website you will be blocked" Really? . . after the fact?
Thank you for that, the big scary box appears on the screen "YOU are attempting to log into a malicious website", makes us all feel good.
How about you work with the folks at firefox and get it right?
