Norton Security and ransomware protection

Hello, I tried to find a clear answer for this,  but so far was not able to find anything.  So, does Norton Security (latest version) protects me for the ransomware viruses?

Thanks,

djagodzi.

Re: Norton Security and ransomware protection

Every antivirus now a days covers ransomware, malware, viruses and adware. But remember that NO antivirus is 100% effective. Malware, ransomware and other viruses charge on a day to day basis. Sometimes hourly. As soon as you find a cure for one 20 others are released into the wild. It's a constant struggle. Does Norton Security protect against ransomware you asked...............why yes it does. But the best and most effective solution is to have all your files backed up. Either externally or in the cloud. So even if Norton or any other antivirus stop the ransomware sometimes your files still get encrypted. So that is why it is very important to keep all files and photos backed up. No one should ever store anything very personal on their pc. Locally  that is.Having your files backed up is not just a good measure against ransomware. It is also protecting those files and pictures for if and when you have a hard drive failure. Hope that helps.
