Norton Security with Backup not appearing in Startup Manager
I periodically have a problem with Norton Security with Backup not starting when I reboot my computer. When I look at the Startup Manager (either the one in Norton Security or MSCONFIG.EXE), I don't see Norton listed. Shouldn't it be there? (I realize that it probably starts via some kind of registry key rather than the Windows Startup folder so I'm not surprised that I don't see it there but I thought that MSCONFIG and NS were supposed to report ALL startup programs, regardless of how they're started). Also, shouldn't it be pretty much the first thing to load (it usually DOES load and fairly early in the sequence (at least based on what icons appear in my tray) but there always seem to be a least a couple of windows utilities (network connection, sound, etc.) that show up before I see the Norton icon in the tray.
If I start the program manually, it comes up with no suspicious behavior and running a scan says that everything's fine. If I reboot again (occasionally a couple of times more), Norton seems to start up normally but I'm concerned that it doesn't do this reliably. Any thoughts on this?
FYI, I'm running Win 7 (with all current patches (at least those that MS calls "important") and, according to the Version Check in Norton Security, I have the newest version installed.
