Hi Harley55,

Can you provide a bit more detail about the report?  Better yet, if you could post a screenshot of the report, that would be great.

How to post an image in the forums.

Re: Norton Security Diagnostic Report Problem

Okay, so Norton is reporting some file system errors. You mentioned there are no errors. Did you run a separate utility to check the drives?

Have you run chkdsk /f or chkdsk /r?

Check a drive for errors.

Although you may be aware of this, you will have to read the results in Event Viewer.

Let us know how you do.

Re: Norton Security Diagnostic Report Problem

I have done that you are asking. I've used separate utility's and all the chkdsk commands on all three drives. What in particular should I be looking for in the event log.

Re: Norton Security Diagnostic Report Problem

Phil_D thanks for the info it took a while to run three drives with the  chkdsk /f  /r command. It found problems on all three drives. Now the report shows no problems. Problem solved for now. This could be an indication of future hard drive problems. Thanks to all for the help. Do you agree?

Re: Norton Security Diagnostic Report Problem

Hi, Harley. Did the report say that Windows had successfully repaired any errors ?

If so, that explains the nil problems report.

It doesn't necessarily mean that there is a chance of an HDD failure, but it wouldn't hurt to keep an eye on things.

If strange things happen or your system begins to slow down and lag, that can be a warning of impending failure.

Alway make sure you have your files and programs etc backed up preferably on a seperate drive, so you can restore them if your drive does fail. Making a system image is also desirable.
