Norton Security for iOS Battery Drain

When I have "Web Protection" enabled on Norton Security for iOS the app uses about 25% or more of the battery!  Today, enable for less that half a day - it has used 18% of my battery.  Really?  That makes this app pretty much useless.

Re: Norton Security for iOS Battery Drain

Hello izenmike. Though I do not use iOS checking my Norton Mobile Security battery usage its showing 0% battery drain since my last charge this morning. Web protection is enabled as well. My NMS only scans on demand when surfing or using an app to look at news, etc. Check the permissions your device is giving to all your apps as well as apps running in the background which would cause NMS to scan more than it should. If you can post a screenshot of your NMS battery usage that would be helpful. Here is how.

Cheers

Re: Norton Security for iOS Battery Drain

I have been tracking this battery use on the new NSiOS, and have discussed it with my Norton contacts. It seems to be related to moving around and switching, or searching for different wifi connections. Whether in your own home, or office, or just public hotspots.

What I found with my phone was that overnight, the phone was in the bedroom which seems to be at the limit of the wifi signal for the network I have. So the connection would keep dropping and re connecting and NSiOS would scan the network each time it connected. Using the battery quickly. I was seeing battery use over 90% for NSiOS under these conditions.

To help test this, if you can afford to be without wifi for a day, maybe on the weekend, turn off wifi on your device and see if the battery use is reduced.

Can you be more specific? This thread is about a brand new product, Norton Security for iOS.

Are you are also having problems with the Norton Mobile Security, NMS, for Android? How have you determined NMS is using too much battery? It is going to be at the top of the list for the same reasons listed in the link given by Torrey. Whenever you access a web site, or an app is updated, Norton is going to scan that item.

Re: Norton Security for iOS Battery Drain

Yeah the battery drains too fast on android, and my battery on my phone lasts 2 days normally, put norton security on it, and it lasts less than a day, to a day max.

Also the app keeps closing itself and not staying in the notification area, its really annoying so both my sister and I took it off our phones, because it was happening to her as well.

Re: Norton Security for iOS Battery Drain

If you want to help diagnose this issue on Android, please start a new thread in the Norton Mobile Security forum board.

Your issue is different in that it is a totally different product on a different OS, and may already have been discussed there.

Re: Norton Security for iOS Battery Drain

Eh I wont bother with doing that cause I have reported it so many times anyway and its not getting noticed.
