Norton Security + Symantec System Recovery = Problems

Friends.
I get so tired when two products from the same manufacturer collide with each other .

In my case it is Norton Security by Symantec (version 22.1.0.9) and Symantec System Recovery 2013 R2 (version 11.1.0.53728) that do not like each other.

We had no problem when we ran Norton Internet Security, but since the change of the virus software problems have succeeded each other.

The backups are interrupted in the middle and sometimes not allowed at all.

We have set both the "Network Trust" and "Device Trust" - all to allow communication with our NAS (Drobo).

But still problems ...

We work with Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the help!

Johannes

Re: Norton Security + Symantec System Recovery = Problems

Hi Johannes.  Do you have Norton Security with Backup or just Norton Security?  I understand your dismay and frustration, having had the same issue with Ghost and Norton 360 running together--until I disabled backup in N360.  Would be very interested to hear if you've solved this because I'm thinking about installing Norton Security (not with backup) instead of renewing N360, and installing SSR instead of continuing with Ghost 15.  Thanks.

Hi Cate!

No, it has not been resolved, and there are problems on and off.
I have Norton Security without backup along with Symantec System Recovery.

It's not a disaster, but expect some problems.

Re: Norton Security + Symantec System Recovery = Problems

Hi, have you tried to running the backup after disabling the firewall of Norton Security? This could help us to understand whether the problem is with Norton Security or Symantec System Recovery.

Sorry for tardy reply, Johannes (been havin' a few hardware problems, gah!).  Thanks for the warning.  Am planning to install Norton Security in a couple of days when N360 expires.  Until we hear that this conflict is resolved with NS and SSR, I guess I'll keep running Ghost.  Good luck, Johannes!  Sending some software prayers your way.

Cate

Re: Norton Security + Symantec System Recovery = Problems

I'll keep an eye on my system. Last nightI just installed SSR ver 11.0.2.49853(not R2) with Norton Security with Backup ver 22.1.0.9.  I am backing up to my Windows Home Server through a mapped drive to a shared folder.

So far I was able to manually run the Computer backup and the Files backup with no issues. I'll see what happens when the scheduled backups try to run.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
