Norton Security throws up alert when using Media Creation Tool

Hi

I had planned on installing Windows 10 Creators Update on my PC and laptop this weekend, but have ran into an issue. I actually prefer to do clean installs using the Media Creation Tool and have done so in the past when installing a new version of Windows 10 (I was using Kaspersky Internet Security on those occasions).

Now I've ran into a problem when the Media Creation Tools is copying data to the USB drive that will be used for installation:

File Actions File: l:\ autorun.inf Threat Removed I'm wondering if anyone else has ran into this issue and if so what did you do resolve it?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Norton Security throws up alert when using Media Creation Tool

Hello

Did you thoroughly remove Kaspersky before installing Norton? That means using their removal tool and then restarting before installing Norton? Have you turned off Fast Startup?

Thanks.

Re: Norton Security throws up alert when using Media Creation Tool

Hi

I did a complete clean install of Windows 10 Anniversary Update back when I was using Kaspersky Internet Security, so those steps were not required.

I cannot install the Creators Update using my USB drive because Norton Security is flagging the aforementioned file as dangerous.

Help!

Re: Norton Security throws up alert when using Media Creation Tool

Have you tried just saving the ISO with the Media Creation Tool?

I have 3 systems and mounted the ISO in each to do the update.

I have used Rufus in the past to use the saved ISO to make a bootable USB.

I need to try and make a bootable ISO later today.

Never heard of that tool before, so thanks for the suggestion. I might have to resort to using that if Symantec can't offer me a solution.

I have to use the USB method for my laptop installation because the internal DVD drive doesn't work.

Here is a Tutorial from tenforums. Option 2 is for Rufus.

On my system I Mounted the ISO and ran a scan on the autorun.inf and no flag from Norton.
