Norton Security in /windows 10

Hi  I have just got a brand  new HP Pavilion Laptop with Windows 10.  I took MacAfee out and put in on my Norton Security.

I found that Windows 10  runs The Edge (a new MS browser ) but I don't like it much and Norton keeps telling me that some Norton extensions are not working in The Edge.

So then I searched my system and found Internet Explorer 11 was also installed in the laptop. So I started using it.  Now I get Script bug errors.

It is all driving me mad and worrying me that I am not fully protected.  Please advise on which browser is protected by Norton and also why the script bug error messages are appearing.

Thanks - Sue

Thank you.  I have seen this page via your link.  Will keep trying.  My other main concern is whether or not Norton Security is fully protecting me.  It is up to date but when I use The Edge browser Norton warns me I may noy be fully protected.  I have always relied on Norton products - how can it be that we are exposed to a security threat in this way -  if there is a flaw

Hello Sue

You can change your default browser in Win 10. Windows 10 has not released the necessary extensions yet for Norton to protect Edge completely You can use IE11 or Chrome with Win 10. When you change your default browser, please remember to run Windows Update to get the updates for which ever browser you choose to use.

Thanks.

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 10 Pro 64 bit Norton Core Security Plus 22.17.3.50 Core Firmware 282 I E 11 Chrome latest version.

Re: Norton Security in /windows 10

Thank you.  I have been using IE11 in my new laptop with Windows 10 and that is when the 'script error' started.

I have not 'told' Windows 10 to use IE11 as default - not sure how to do that. Can you advise re that please.  Then as you say I will run Windows update to complete.  Thanks

Use Google Chrome. Problem solved. Go into app settings and from there you can select the default for each program. IE 11 is old and outdated. Google Chrome with the uBlock Origin extension is all you will ever need.

Thanks for all the advice.  I have initially made IE11 my default browser, run Windows updates - and all seems well

If any problems in future will try Google Chrome - again - although tried in the past and did not like it!

Thanks again

There is no need to run Windows Update after changing your default browser.  In Windows 10, updates which include IE, are pushed out automatically so you already have current updates for that browser, and other browsers do not receive updates through Windows Update.  Open Windows Settings > Default Apps > Web browser to select a default browser and you are done.
