i am running windows 7 with firefox 18 and in the extension section of firefox the norton toolbar is showing that it is compatible with ff, but is not enabled. would somebody please help me on how to enable the toolbar. thanks
Can I guess, since you posted in the Norton 360 board that your Norton product is N360?
If you have a compatible version of the Norton Toolbar you should see Enable button on the right hand side. You will then have to either click the Restart now button, or manually close Firefox then open it again. The Norton Toolbar should now be available for use.
If for some reason that doesn't work you should open N360 and click Support > Get Support and let Auto-fix scan your installation and see if it fixes anything.
dave, there is no enable button to click, a remote tech helped me last night, removed all n360 and reinstalled etc etc and then told me that the nis toolbar was going. however it is telling me that it is incompatible with ff 18 (which i have). maybe i should get another remote tech to recheck
Oh, it's INcompatible...
I was a little confused as that's not what you said.
This can happen when we update Firefox before updating Norton. When Firefox releases a new version a patch is released for Norton products and it is recommended to visit here and check for an announcement that a patch has been released before updating Firefox. You will see that post at the top of this board.
There is also a setting in Options > Advanced tab > Update that will check for updates, but let you choose whether to install them.
Which version of N360 do you have? Support > About.
Have you manually run Live Update, restarting where required until no more updates are available? I would restart your computer even if N360 doesn't ask you to.
I would still click Support > Get Support first and see if that helps.
If no luck you should uninstall Firefox and download a fresh copy from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/.
Check again if the toolbar can be enabled.
Let us know how you get on.
