Norton Toolbar and I-Safe compatibility

Recently renewed my subscription. Just discovered the incompatibility with Edge.  Is the toolbar and identity safe compatible with Google Chrome?  Has anyone run into any problems with Chrome?  I'm not too happy about this discovery but trying to make the best of it.  Thanks.

Re: Norton Toolbar and I-Safe compatibility

Yes, ID Safe and Norton Toolbar are compatible with Chrome.  The only small bug I've seen with the toolbar is sometimes it covers the very top of a page you are viewing but clicking the ^ on the left hand side of the toolbar temporarily hides the toolbar allowing you to see the whole page.  Other than that it works fine.

A little bit of knowledge is... well a little bit of knowledge.

Thank you, Krusty.  I will wait a day or so to see if there are any negative comments.  Otherwise, I'll go with Chrome.

Hello

There are plans to support Edge, but Norton has to wait for Microsoft to allow the use of extensions.

Thanks.

thank you, Floplot.  I understand that I can revert back to Edge later on, if I choose to.  Is that correct?

Hello Pauline

I would think that you can change browsers at any time. I'm not using Windows 10. You just had to pick a default browser, but that doesn't mean you can't use any other browser.

Thanks.

Re: Norton Toolbar and I-Safe compatibility

We installed Google Chrome and followed instructions to make GC our default browser.  However, when checking with Chrome settings, "Google Chrome is not your default browser."  In our Windows settings...default app, and then chose GC numerous times.  Received no further prompts or "ok".... nothing to indicate change was made from Edge.  I am using Windows 10.  We still cannot get Norton toolbar I guess because we can't make this default browser change.  There is another setting when I go to Windows--Settings--System-- at bottom of menu on right that says "set default by app".  Up comes a long list "to set a program as the default for all file types and protocols it can open, click then set.... "  I am not tech savvy and will not do this unless someone says it.s ok.

Re: Norton Toolbar and I-Safe compatibility

I think the problem is solved. To set Google Chrome as default: go to settings, system, " defaults by app"  (or type in Win search "set default programs"), then from the list of programs, click Google Chrome, then "set this program as default", click ok.  I restarted computer.  Then I was able to configure Norton Toolbar and Identity Safe by opening Norton, going to Identity block, clicking configure.  Follow Norton prompts from then on.

Everything is working fine now.  It's been quite a journey and you might want to follow this carefully since I may not have explained it well.  Maybe some Norton guru can do it better for others.

Re: Norton Toolbar and I-Safe compatibility

Hi to all,

Windows 10 Build 14295 is supporting extension for Microsoft Edge. They mentioned the end product will have extensions available through Microsoft Store. I hope that Norton Toolbar will support soon Microsoft Edge as extension is supported now.

Krusty13, I just stumbled on your post. Thanks for the help on that "toolbar covers the top of the page" problem. It's been annoying the heck out of me.

Re: Norton Toolbar and I-Safe compatibility

Hello Medico

I'm sure that Symantec is aware of what is being released.. I do know that according to the updates to the status of Identity Safe for Firefox, there was some mention of having one Toolbar for all of the 4 Browsers which will be supported. Don't know what the next update will say. So time will tell.

Thanks.
