Norton toolbar missing in Chrome - this is a common problem appearing on forums a lot.

Have tried all the fixes for chromeand none work, but IE8 fine. Clearly Norton must know there is an issue with Chrome and should fix it rather than leave us to flounder looking for random fixes on the internet or declare that it won't work on Chrome for whatever reason. It was working upto a couple of  weeks ago albeit with some issues with double headers.

I had the same issue earlier today.  With a bit of scrounging around, I found that the following works.  I am using Windows 7.  As far as I can see there is nothing for Norton to fix.

  • At the upper right corner of the Chrome window, click on the 3 horizontal line menu
  • Click on Tools
  • Click on Extensions
  • To the right of Norton Identity Protection, place a checkmark in the box to Enable that extension

Hi, Jrobinbracken. There has been some incompatibility occasionally between the NortonToolbar and Chrome.

Remembering that Chrome is open source and always being updated, I would suggsest running Live Updates until it says no more are to be found.

Then try a fresh install of the latest STABLE version, as Norton is not compatible with beta or nightly versions of Chrome.

I have never bothered with NISafe before but for some reason decide to activate it.  I use Chrome  and have enabled extension but that does not seem to work on my Dell 1745 Studio laptop.  When I launched chrome last is stated NISafe had crashed!  I am using Win 7 SP1 and norton 360.

Here is today's crash. Why does my Norton Identy Safe crash?

I just lost my Norton Toolbar on Chrome yesterday, after using it for over a year.  Why did this happen and how do I get it back?  It works on IE.  I tried the fix listed below to enable the Norton Idenity Protection, but still no toolbar.

Me too as of yesterday with an automatic update to Chrome 32.  As an aside, I also have Internet Explorer 11 and Norton ID safe has issues with that as well.  So in my case, I'm back to entering passowrds manually until it gets fixed.  Hopefully Norton will fix these issues fast.  Here's the text from previous link  in the posts about the Chrome issue:

"If you use the Norton Toolbar on Google Chrome version 32, you may have noticed recently that the Norton Toolbar does not appear in the browser.

We've identified a compatibility issue due to Google Chrome policy changes affecting extensions like our toolbar and our team is working hard to resolve this issue quickly.

Thank you for your patience while we fix and test these updates.

When we have more information to share, I will add that information to this thread. If you wish to stay informed of these updates, I recommend subscribing to this thread."

when I checked settings on Google chrome the boxed was checked for enabled, but still can't see toolbar.  Had this problem last week or so, but can't remember what I did to fix it (well temporarily)
