Norton Toolbar not showing up in Firefox 14.0.1 Information

In following location,  we will have install.rdf file, Open this file in Notepad and check Min version 11.0 and max version 13.*

If you have max version is 11.0 or 12.0, then change it to 13.* and check this issue again?

Location for  install.rdf file C:\ProgramData\Norton\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\N360_6.x.x.x\coFFPlgn

N360_6.x.x.x, x is the version number

If Norton toolbar is not listed FF->tools->Addons->Extension, We need to make sure the entries in  Extensions.ini file are correct or not.

 Check this  N360  folder name under C:\ProgramData\Norton\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\N360_6.x.x.x

  And add these(mentioned below) in Extensions.ini  entries (if it is not there ), with Exact Product version N360_6.x.x.x (e.g. N360_6.2.1.5) which you have seen above

Extension1=C:\ProgramData\Norton\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\N360_6.x.x.x \IPSFFPlgn

The numbers Extension1 and Extension2 will vary accordingly depending on the other addons present in your Firefox

Extensions.ini file present in this location,  %appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\SomeRandomeValue.default\extensions.ini file

Restart the system and check Norton Toolbar is listed or not?

I tried this and it doesn't work. But this file needs to change the Verison number to 2012.7.4.1.

I completely uninstalled Firefox even from the registry. Shutdown and restarted. Then updated Norton 360 until it was done and rebooted every update and this file never changed. Tried to delete the file install.rdf and on reboot it comes back on it's own. I tried editing the file it changes and retuirns to the old state on reboot. As I see it this not a firefox issue it's a Norton issue. The patch Verison is out there but it will not update this file. This is the same on 4 Windows 7 Computers. But XP updated fine.  As far as uninstalling Norton I've done that and it will work. But you shouldn't have uninstall everytime a new Verison of firefox comes out. Norton should pass the update thru. Any Response.

Re: Norton Toolbar not showing up in Firefox 14.0.1 Information

Hi Harley55,

You're quoting instructions for N 360 and in your other thread you claimed to have been running NIS - so naturally, if you use N 360 version engine numbers in your attempt, things will not work out.  You would have to use the NIS 2012 engine version number.

We have provided the necessary procedure for you to get totally updated (and you have quoted it here) which has the necessary extensions in FF for FF14.0.1 in the following post:

If you do not want to do it - then you may never get updated.  As has been said before, if one waits for the Norton Toolbar Compatabilty Update to be installed prior to upgrading to the new FF update - things work very smoothly.

Oh and BTW - there is no update necessary from Norton required to to go from FF 14.0 to FF 14.0.1.
