Norton Vulnerability Protection

Hi,

Yes, I've read the posts about the NVP extension being disabled in IE and removed from FF, but my case is a bit different.  My FF extension is still visible, just not compatible with FF32 and the IE extension is still enabled, so my question to Symantec is  -  Have I received the new IPS update yet and if not, is Norton still protecting me?

Thank you

Re: Norton Vulnerability Protection

Did you get the new Intrusion Prevention engine. It should be something like 7.0.0.214. I am on my Beta system and that is what v22 has and I think v21 gets the same one. I think the old one was 6.x.x.x. Look under Intrusion Prevention in History.

Have you rebooted the machines in the past few days?

Hi guys,

Jim  -  The latest one I received was yesterday morning my time and is 7.0.0.214.

SendOfJive  -  Yep.  My systems get restarted often throughout each day.

Here's a pretty picture of my extensions.

FF32

IE11

Cheers.

Re: Norton Vulnerability Protection

Hi, Krusty.  I updated to FF 32 today, and all is in order with all extensions working, and the Safe Search icons back.

Maybe try a full download of Firefox 32 from Mozilla, and overinstall it.

Maybe that way, Norton and Firefox will recognise each other.........

Well, I just spent the last day and night reinstalling Windows on both of my machines.  Now I don't have the NVP extension in Firefox 32 at all, but strangely it is still enabled in IE11.... Go figure!

Hi Krusty:

What you described above is what I saw with NIS v. 20.5.0.28 (2013).  According to my history my Intrusion Prevention engine was updated to v. 7.0.0.24 the evening of 29-Aug-2014 per miket's post here and I noticed that my NVP extension was disabled in IE9 and completely removed from FF31 the morning of 30-Aug-2014.  No change since my upgrade to FF32 on 03-Sep-2014.

@bjm_ ,

No as I had not activated MBAM at the time I post my reply to you.

Me too now.

Today I notice the IE NVP extension is disabled in IE11, so I guess all is well with the world again.

Thanks all for your interest.
