nvp is no longer showing under extentions for ff31. no trace of it anywhere, just disappeared. any ideas? thanks
Yes, it has vanished here, too. Not sure what might have caused it, but it is definitely no longer appearing the the list of Firefox extensions.
Yes, I just checked my Firefox 31 Add-ons and Norton Vulnerability Protection has vanished.
Is this intentional by Norton? Strange.
Definitely using IE until this latest oddity is corrected.
Also noticed that my Norton Toolbar is now version 2014.7.6.15 but the latest version announcement notes version 2014.7.6.
Has Norton updated the Toolbar and not announced it and removed NVP in the process?
What is going on?
My mistake, the latest Toolbar is 2014.7.6.15
The absence of NVP is still a mystery.
Me too. nvp has disappeared entirely from Firefox after an update, however it is still in IE. I'm running the latest version of N360 (v126.96.36.199) with Firefox 31 on a Windows 8.1 64-bit computer. Incidentally I first noticed that nvp was missing after rebooting for a Windows update today ( KB2993651 ) - could this be related or just coincidence ?
I have to report that I am using Norton Security Suite - Comcast's clone of N 360 and I still have the NVP 188.8.131.52-1 showing in FF 31 add-ons and I just uninstalled Windows Update KB2982791 and installed KB2993651 which was it's replacement.
I am on a Win 7 64 bit system, so that is two things different - the OS and I did uninstall KB 2982791 before replacing it with KB 2993651.
I'm still using FF 30, and sure enough I'm also missing NVP. It was just there ~ 3 hours ago, and I do manual live updates. The only two things that I have done since it disappeard
1) Performed a live update of NIS which did include some extra updates such as Norton Submission Control Data, Extended File Attributes and Signatures, and Web Protection Definitions (hub).
2) Windows update did perform a new re-released update
One of the above probably caused the issue. IE11 is still showing NVP 12.2 running though. I'm running Win 7 x64
I'm now thinking it's related to some NIS update ...
When I run get support under 'support', NIS is now performing mystery installation fix. No matter how many times I run support it keeps performing this 'installation fix', yet still no NVP in FF
- This is due to a protection update that started this morning (August 27, 2014).
A updated protection engine is being released for Norton customers. This engine removes the need for Browser Helps Objects (BHO), browser plugins or add ons. No functionality will be lost due to this change. It simply gives Norton customers browser independent protection and allows Norton to tackle even more complex threats.
Not all customers are being upgraded at the same time. This is a staged rollout. So customers may see the change at different times. Rest assured this is a positive change, no functionality is being removed and that this change improves the protection capabilities of the Norton products.
Thanks - that's good to know. I was concerned that something had gone wrong.
Could you please explain though why NVP has been removed from Firefox but is still present in Internet Explorer ?
Hi, Andrew3945. Different browsers, different archtecture. I'm running IE 10, and although the add on is still showing, it is now disabled.
Norton is moving away from certain extensions and addons in the new version 22, aka Norton 2015.
TYVM Miket for the updated news on the NVP. I checked again this AM and I have now lost my NVP in FF 31 and as I also use IE 10, I (like F4E) also see the NVP present, but Disabled in Manage Add-ons.

So are most folks using IE11 still seeing NVP enabled? I'm not home to check, but I'm pretty sure I remember my IE11 NVP still being enabled ... when it sounds like IE10 has disabled the NVP.

My IE 11 NVP is disabled.
It's disabled on all of our IE11 installations (both Win-8 & Win-7 systems)...
It can be re-enabled and it will continue to show as being enabled until the current IE11 browser session is closed. On the next use of the browser it again shows as being disabled.
Same situation here.
I'm using IE 11 on Win 8.1 and NVP is disabled when I open IE.
I can enable it during the session but sometimes it becomes disabled during that session and sometimes it remains enabled until I restart IE.
So, is NVP no longer "require' as in FF 31?
Thanks for the replies folks ... I got home and checked NVP on my IE11, and it is indeed disabled like evryone else's.
