NS With Backup - No Pulse Updates

Renewed my NIS at the end of December 2014 by installing NSWB, but ever since I no longer see any "Pulse Updates" being installed when I run Live Update manually. What changed?

Re: NS With Backup - No Pulse Updates

There is no Pulse Updates with NSwBv22.

NSwB relies more heavily on the "cloud" so Pulse Updates aren't needed now (or so Symantec tell us).

Cheers.

Re: NS With Backup - No Pulse Updates

You mean updates are being installed from the Cloud, just how am I connected to the cloud without my knowledge?

Re: NS With Backup - No Pulse Updates

If you are internet connected you are connected to the cloud.  That is the case with NAV, NIS and N360 too.

If Norton detects a file that it doesn't know is safe and isn't in your local virus definitions it will query the cloud.

Re: NS With Backup - No Pulse Updates

So from the links you have posted, I take it that I do not need to be "Signed in" (top upper right corner of main UI) for these feature's to work and access the cloud?

Yes, that's correct.

Re: NS With Backup - No Pulse Updates

Hi, JW Stuart. You'll also notice that you are still getting local definitions downloaded on a regular basis.

It's just that they are now smaller because Symantec use the cloud for bang up to date info, but you still have the local definitions stored on your computer, as before.
