NS patches......

Since NIS became NS patching it has became a pain.... it's a manual process for me every time symantec releases a patch. Why do the patches not apply automatically during a system restart? Why do I have to run live update and manually click apply now for it to apply? Why does it usually fail and I have to restart my pc despite the release notes saying windows 7 + no restart needed? I feel like norton security  is going backwards these days.... running windows 10

Re: NS patches......

If you are not running LiveUpdates manually, the automatic LiveUpdates will download the patches, and eventually will install them after a system restart.

You mention both Win 7 and 10. Are these different machines with different behaviors for the patches? The Win 10 machine may have the Fast Startup feature enabled. If you use Windows 8/8.1 or 10, there can be an issue with the Fast Start feature.. See more information here.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: NS patches......

Hello Peter

I think he only has the Win 10 computer. He mentioned that the Blog says that with Win 7+ no restart is needed, yet most of the time it is needed to restart for them to install properly. 7+ meaning Win 7 and higher.

Thanks.
