Re: NS Update

hi GennadyKatz

I understand full details have not yet been released they are usually announced at the top of each forum product page.

It is to address some of the problems listed in Hot Fixes & Issues thread at the top of the forum. I guess details will be given in due course.

Re: NS Update

@GennadyKatz,

Patch details:

The team has released a HOT FIX earlier today to address a top cause for the “Norton product does not start” issue after upgrading to 22.5.2.15. This HOT FIX is available via Live Update for all languages & targets 22.5.2.15 products [No Version Change]

Note: This patch does not require restart on Win 7, Win 8, Win 10 but requires a restart for Win XP & Vista

Please let us know if this worked for you.

Re: NS Update

@ Sunil_GA,

If the hotfix addresses that issue: https://community.norton.com/en/forums/windows-freezes-or-applications-freeze-after-you-install-security-update-3076895-0

you should know that it's only for Windows 7, NOT Windows 10. (according to Microsoft's KB info).

I installed the patch on my NS 22.5.2.15, (Windows 10 x64), explorer.exe restarted normally, the NS patch opened window showed: "Closing applications", then "restarting applications", BUT when it came to apply the hotfix I got a red error message indicating: "An error occured, please restart now to apply patch and re-enable protection".

After restart everything OK, no Event Viewer errors and no NS Security History errors.

Is there something wrong with the installer on W 10 or what?? Apparently this patch does not apply to Windows 10 systems or am I wrong??

My NS History shows that LiveUpdate completed successfully so I guess that the patch installed after manual reboot.

Thanks for any feedback.

Hi, Apostolos. The @ function only works for Gurus and Symantec staff, so I'll highlight this query for you.

@Sunil_GA  ??? Any comment ?

THANK YOU F4E !!

When I saw the error, everything restarted properly in taskbar but not NS icon, thus the error I guess, when NS tried to apply the patch, so I had to restart pc.

Re: NS Update

@Apostolos, the Monday hot fix was released via LiveUpdate to address the top cause for "Norton Product does not start" issues caused after Norton 22.5.2.14 update and it is not related to the Windows Security updated issue.

Sunil_GA,

Thank you very much for the info.

In my case, on both W 10 x64 systems the patch failed to install while on Windows, (rebootless patch procedure), and NS showed a message indicating that I needed to manually Restart my pc's.

Any info on this??

NS is working properly on all my systems so it has maybe to do something with the patch/hotfix and Windows 10 x64 OS.

However, on my W 7 x64 system it installed ok, so go figure...

Thank you again.
