Should Windows Defender Security Center be manually disabled when using NS? Mine is currently ON by default.
The new Windows Defender Security Center is no problem. From what I hear, ( I do not have Creators Update yet ) it only reports your security status.
As long as when you check Settings - Update and Security - Windows Defender, your Windows Defender is shown as Turned Off, you are good to go.
Windows Defender Security Center is a dashboard to various security functions. If you right click on the taskbar icon and select open it will open the dashboard and you can look at the information. You can click on each icon to see what it is doing. If I recall correctly if Windows Defender is active it will say so and give you access to it.
Using Windows Defender in the name has caused a lot of confusion so hope this helps.
Thanks, peterweb; I'll just leave it as it is...
Appreciate it; thanks, Jim.

PS: AOL blocks mail now if u don't use it for certin amt of time, so kindly rspd in the blog here ty again.
When you install Norton Security Premium, it will disable Windows Defender. You should not have 2 security programs with real time protection enabled at the same time as conflicts can occur and actually reduce your protection.
