NSwB on sale at Amazon...

Hi everybody,

Well, there is another great sale going on at Amazon. (But be at peace... I'm not getting any perks from it...   )   NS with Backup for ten devices (10!...) is being offered at 27.99 (Code download) or 29.99 (card mailed with code). Ain’t this great? Check it out:

http://www.amazon.com/Norton-Security-Backup-Devices-Mobile/dp/B00MV9ELBM?ie=UTF8&redirect=true

A couple of questions:

- I understand that I can hold on the code until close to my current NIS expiration date and then download and intall. Am I right?

- Also, should I decide on installing now, are my remaining days (about 3.5 months) automatically added to my new subscription or do I have to ask for it to be done?

- And finally, if I install NS-B over NIS 22.5.2.15, I understand I’ll keep all my current settings, such as my Local Vault and my Vault contents. Is this correct?

Thanks for all help and, hey… The sale will not last long, I suspect!...

Re: NSwB on sale at Amazon...

Hi LinYu2.

Welcome to the Norton Community Forums.

As none of your questions seem to relate directly to backup but do relate to things such as the local vault I think it far better for you if this thread were aired in the Norton Security forum (which also covers NSBU just leaving the backup bits for the Backup forum where you have intially posted).

Your questions about license periods may be better addressed to Norton staff via the online Chat link, but others in the Norton Security forum may have better ideas.

Good luck.

Re: NSwB on sale at Amazon...

Thanks for your advice, Andmike. No disagreement with what you say. It did not become immediately clear to me on which of the two forums my post would better fit. After some hesitation, I ended up choosing this one - the wrong one, as it turns out...     My fault. Now, how can I move it to the other forum?

Hi LinYu2,

Your questions answered in order of asking:

  • Yes
  • Install and then call Chat for the days to be added in
  • Yes

I will ask for your post to be moved to the Norton Security board.

Re: NSwB on sale at Amazon...

Since the thread has not been moved yet, I still have one more question about the NSwB:

I just noticed that the box shown by Amazon on their website shows these unexpected statements regarding the Norton version being used prior to upgrade (See pic).

Is this information relevant or can I still install NS-B over my current NIS version in order to keep my previous settings?

Re: NSwB on sale at Amazon...

Hello again LinYu2.

I think you will find that this thread has been moved (it was moved yesterday after my first post) so I think all is well.

On the image you have posted I think all it is saying is that those with N360 who might expect to have a backup feature should move to NSBU while those without a backup facility will presumably move on to a product without a backup facility.  Others may have different views but if you are moving on from NIS then you may not need/want the backup features of NSBU and may be happy with Norton Security, but that also normally comes with less licenses.

If you upgrade to NSBU and find you do not want the backup features you can always turn them off.

I hope that helps.

Yes, I can see it has been moved! If it was already moved when I posted my previous message, I missed it. Actually, in the back of my mind I was expecting to see some kind of note announcing the move, but thinking of it, this wouldn't be necessary at all, in view of the previous discussion about the move, including my complete agreement to it... Sorry for the oversight.

And yes, your explanation did help a lot. Thanks for responding.

Cheers.

Re: NSwB on sale at Amazon...

Incidentally, the sale is over... It was an Amazon 1-day deal and today it is selling for $52.68... Still not bad, though, considering the number of devices covered.

Re: NSwB on sale at Amazon...

LinYu,

Not sure it matters anymore since it is off sale, but for future reference, I got NSBU (even though I don't use the Backup) , as the extras 5 licenses may be handy.  I look at it as 5 extra licenses for a lower price and NS and NSBU are the same minus the BU  which I don't use anyway.  The 5  extra licenses are the bargain!

Re: NSwB on sale at Amazon...

Of course it matters... I got it too, as soon as I got your answers to my questions...   And of course, it was a bargain. As to how better (or worse) NSBU will turn out working for me as compared to my current NIS, only time will tell. But this is what bargains are all about, I guess: you take it or leave it... I took it. Now I must decide about the proper time to download  and install.

Cheers.

Re: NSwB on sale at Amazon...

Hello LinYu2

You might find it beneficial to look over some of the issues in this area of the Forum. That may help you to decide when you would want to install NSBU. As a precaution, do please back up your Identity Safe just in case you might need it. Be Prepared just in case.

Thanks.

Re: NSwB on sale at Amazon...

Wise thoughts, floplot.

I am not thinking of jumping ship anytime soon. I have well over three months to go on my current NIS subscription, and this gives me plenty of time to look around and see what's going on with NSBU. I take your advice seriously. Many thanks.
