Question regarding Windows 7 security after MS ends support.

Hello all,  I am currently using Windows 7 home and Office 2003 and am reluctant to upgrade my machines to Windows 10 because I don't want to give up my Office 2003 Outlook program containing all my business contacts, which I am told is not compatible with Win 10.  I would like to know what the forum thinks regarding maintaining reasonable internet security (for web browsing and e-mail) after Microsoft ends support for Win 7.

I currently have Norton Internet Security installed, along with weekly scans with Malware Bytes, Hitman Pro.Alert, and Spy-Ware Blaster. Also, use CCleaner regularly. I have not had any problems so far, but wonder if my after-market programs will protect me sufficiently after Microsoft ends support for Win 7.

Any thoughts from the forum would be greatly appreciated....

Thanks

Windows 7 will be supported by Norton for some time yet, so I think with the programs you have that you are well set up currently.

Keep doing regular scans and surf safely, and you'll be fine.

Re: Question regarding Windows 7 security after MS ends support.

Hello

You can back up your emails and address books. Then upgrade to Windows 10 and get a newer Office program. You can then put back your emails and address book. I have backed up my emails and address books for many years and have migrated to new computers with new O/S and changed from Outlook Express to Outlook, The emails which I didn't want any  more, I have deleted. The people in my address book, I can delete the people in the address books if I don't want them any more.

I'm still on Win 7 and Outlook 2013. When I get a new computer with Win 10 and a newer Office, I will be ready for it.

Have a Good Night and

Thanks.

Norton still supports Windows XP.  That should tell you all you need to know.

And, Outlook 2003 indeed DOES work with Windows 10, I use it on my oldest Dell laptop on a daily basis.

Cheers
