Red Line through middle of norton security when started

Good Morning friends, I have found on numerous occasions that starting Norton Security instead of a yellow or green line there is a bold red line through the centre of the program. Also the programme page is not one that I can go elsewhere in the program from, but simply a page from which nothing happens.

I have resolved this problem in two ways, first by using  Norton Remover and reinstalling Norton Security and later simply by restarting the computer. I am on a completely clean install of Windows 10, and I don't visit "bad" internet sites. So I'm wondering what this Red Line means and why it keeps on happening. I try to fix problems myself and have fixed this many times now but am becoming increasingly concerned by the regularity of occurrence, as to why and what the problem is, and it if can be fixed once and for all.

Many Thanks and Much Appreciation to any and all of you fine folk who can give insight and help to finally resolve this issue.

Can I suggest disabling Fast Startup and see if this continues?

Are your graphics drivers up to date? Maybe you have some desktop add-ons or plugins that could interact with applications? Does it happen at random? Or did it happen after a certain PC session?

Krusty, Josh, thanks so much for you helpful responses. That little two letter word "SO" is immeasurable!

I have followed your kindly advice and the crystal clear instructions, disabled fast start up and updated the graphic card drivers and shut down completely then restarted. All seems good at the moment. Thank You for your excellent advice!

Basically my computer has four 500 Gb  hard drives with each drive portioned into two, so eight drives in all and  I keep everything I want to keep in these separate partitions so was able to do a complete format and reinstall of a clean Windows 10. (I found that updating without a complete format kept an Old Windows folder in the C Drive and used up more space so went for the complete format and install, which is fairly straight forward for me to do with my set up. 

When I did this a short time ago I updated the Graphic Drivers that Win 10 Installed by default, to the latest Nvidia Drivers. So following your advice, I was somewhat surprised to find yet another new update to be installed. I would have expected the NVidia software to advise me of this, but perhaps I missed it as I busily reinstalled all the software on my machine.

The fundamental pattern that I have been able to observe is that getting up in the morning I find that after the nights shutdown the Red Line appears through Norton Security and it won't start and I don't know WHY and HOW SERIOUS that is? Hopefully your insights will have corrected the problem and I will try it for a few days and then come back to report whether the is resolved.

Gentleman, Many Thanks once again for allowing me to tap into your kindly expressed and helpful experience.

I've been using and restarting the computer for about a week now and the problem appears to have been completely resolved.

Both advisements given were clearly necessary to attend to and now they have been deal with, the issue seems to have entirely gone away, so allow me the say a BIG THANK YOU!

Regarding updates and issues, always make sure you have the latest updates of the software, otherwise, it becomes a huge mess. I have had plenty of problems in the past myself for lazying off on the updates from time to time. Especially with recent ransomware and other forms of malware that is going out....
