Renewal of subscription

I today renewed my security software and obtained a confirmation email. When I logged into norton I had a message saying I need to provide the serial number which was provided in my confirmation email. I can't see any serial number I have the product code, I have the confirmation number but no serial number. The note also said that I had used the wrong password the only password used was the one I used to log on so how could I use the wrong password? I trid live chat 24 minute wait, then I rand and was told long delays - I can't believe that it would be so difficult to do on online transaction with norton so can anyone provide a simple solution without me having to get onto chat or on the phone. Should I just get onto my credit provide and cancel the transaction?

Is the product key you received in the email the same product code as the one that is expiring? Did you renew thru Norton or some where else?. If it is a different key, entering a new key will cancel out the old key. I would wait until a day before it is supposed to end and then enter the new key. Use a Windows Admin Account and have Remote Management turned on.

I don't think there is any place for you to enter a serial code, so they    most likely meant product code.
