I have up to date Norton security.
The problem I have is that EVERY TIME I turn on my laptop Norton says I am at risk and I need to 'fix now'.
Can anyone let me know what is going on and why it is happening?
I get this once in a while & in my case it's asking me to run a backup, I have default & full computer backups run automatically but have an SD card with all my program.exe files & an external Hard Drive with all my video files set to manual, once I run all these backups the error disappears.
Hi paul sharrad,
Is there a Fix Now button showing? If so have you used it?
You can also try Help (form the main page of NS) > Get Support. Let it run nd see if it corrects anything.
Also please verify your system time and date are correct.
Have you disabled Windows Fast Startup function. If you use Windows 8/8.1 or 10, there can be an issue with the Fast Start feature.. See more information here.
If you are just shutting down and then starting the computer, you may not be getting a full system shutdown needed to fully resolve any issues Norton is detecting.
This just happened to me on Sunday. I had just updated my keyboard with more up to date firmware than I had installed. All of a sudden, my computer was At Risk. There was a fix it button which I tried but it did not help.. My son happened to have been here at the time. It did say that my issue was that SONAR was not on. I looked at Settings and could see that the whole area having to do with SONAR had been greyed out, so there was no way to turn it back on. I got the update directly from the RAZER website since I do have a RAZER keyboard.
Since I had just done the update and had already restarted after doing it, I decided to restart 1 more time to see if that would help. Sure enough another restart did the trick and my computer was no longer At Risk and SONAR is turned on again. This is a Win 7 computer and I restart at least once a day. So when At Risk, try restarting one more time and then see if you are still At Risk.
