Safe Web Not Working

I am using IE11 (all update) windows 7 (all updated as well) I am not using firefox, chrome, or opera- and I don't care to- I have just spent an hour beign run in circles o nthsi site to various different htreads that have nothign to do with IE- and no confirmation from Norton whether they are even aware of thsi problem or not-

Safeweb icons soemtimes show up on first page of results in yahoo- bing- sometimes it doesn't- soemtimes I get no safeweb marks in second page, soemtimes I do- usually not htough- The safeweb checkmarks were workign fine just last week- now they don't- is htis a known issue that nortons is aware of? Are they workign on a fix? I have tried using ask, google, yahoo, bing, dgpile, none of them show the norton safeweb icons properly- some won't show them at all-

Re: Safe Web Not Working

Hi, Nazareth. Welcome. IE 11 has been problematic for a few users. So much so that some including me, have reverted to IE 10 until the issue is solved.

As you say sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Enabling Compatibility View can help, also if using Google you can go to Settings at the bottom of the page and select Never show instant results.

This usually restores the icons, but seemingly needs to be done each time.

Symantec are aware of this, and hopefully a fix is in the pipeline.    Somewhere !

Re: Safe Web Not Working

hello, thank yo u for answering- well i forot to mention that I've been using ie11 for several months, and this problem only just started a week or so ago- the check marks worked fine up uintil then ()except for when using bing- only the first page of results woudl have them-)- so whatever is causing htis seems to have been from a recent update or soemthing-  I don't use google- only yahoo search but unfortunately yahoo doesn't have the 'never show instant results' option- I'll try compatibility mode just to see if it helps-

Another wierd thing is that hte Ad links in Yahoo all have the norton check marks- only the non ad links (the noraml result links) don't have them

just tried compatiibility view mode, didn't work

Re: Safe Web Not Working

Well that's itneresting, I just opened up the devloper's module (F-12) went down to 'Emulation' and changed it to IE10 there, and Yup- the check marks came back- I tried several pages of results, and all pages loaded the check marks- It seems to be related to the 'Edge (default)' Setting in emulation panel- but not sure how to set thsi to permanent ?

Re: Safe Web Not Working

Nope- Scratch that- it's not working- Tried it again, and only the firstp age had the check marks- tried several more itmes, still only first pageo f resutls had them-

My feeling is that htis is norton's related as I've temporarily installed Macafe site advisor and their green check marks show up on every page even when hte nortons marks are missing-

Another thing that was wierd with nortons was that IF I opened yahoo search first, from a desktop icon I've made, it woudl show the check marks, BUT, IF I opened up say my hotmail mail, then opened yahoo search in a new tab, or new page, the green check marks wouldn't work, nor woudl htere be the norton toolbar up top indicatign if hte site was safe or not- the bar owudl bem issing- thsi only happend IF I open websites from icon shortcuts on my desktop- IF I open IE first, then navigate to yahoo search, or hotmail or whatever, the bar is there, and the check marks show up in results- But, the Macafe check marks show up no matter when I open yahoo search- first, or second after openign page from desktop icon- so somethign is deefinately messed up with hte norton safeweb marks-

Re: Safe Web Not Working

According to one of the Symantec employees, V 21.5 is not far away. Maybe that will have some fixes.

Obviously, we don't know what fixes will be included.

See here.

Re: Safe Web Not Working

Hi - I have searched and finally found this post; this is EXACTLY the same issue I have and it started about a week ago (and it behaves exactly like the OP). Please look into this.

Re: Safe Web Not Working

Okay, I was watching the Safeweb icons have gone AWOL thread where a patch was just released to fix the safeweb icons in Firefox. I had hoped it "might" fix the Yahoo in IE11 icons missing but it didn't. Is there anyone looking into this or found a solution? It has been quite awhile for this thread to have any response and everyone seemed focused on Firefox (which is fine, but now how about this thread?).

Does the next release of Norton (2015, in beta now) fix the supposed Win8.1/IE11 instability?

Re: Safe Web Not Working

not overjoyed! Still occurring today and allows spoofed/corrupt sites to be accessed and opened before Norton kicks in maybe 2-3 minutes later, but by then the damage has been twice catastrophic requiring either a reinstall of corrupted drivers or a complete restore via Windows discpack. Hey Norton, this problem has existed since Microsoft launched Windows 7 compatible IE11 with Bing Search over a year ago! ...really? Enough pandering by your Support Staff telling me "We're working on it" and "Switch to Mozilla or Chrome"... fix it or tell me exactly WHY you can not before I contact my Senator to look into this as Interstate Communications Fraud!

by the way F4E the page you quote shows "Page Not Found"

Re: Safe Web Not Working

That's because since we users have been transferred to the new platform, many of the old links have disappeared.
